Rockstar actually went into hiring frenzy after the last delay, and it wasn’t just QA people this time but very fundamental positions like senior physics programmers, art leads, UX engineers and so.
I actually had many friends interviewed, some hired but most scared off as R* people made it pretty clear they’re walking into a mess.
To me, R* is trying to give birth to a baby in 1 month by hiring 9 pregnant people.
In VO terms I would highly doubt capturing performances would delay anything at all, but creating/revising rest of the cinematics is a burden for the devs. And R* would know better VO isn’t a part to go skimpy. Often, VO work gets completed way before the else.
I’m thinking they’re doing it on purpose. Think you’re a multibazillion company, want to quit your least profitable line of work (OS business) but it’s also your most famous front. Diluting a business is how you quit without scaring investors.
For me, it’s the Claude Code where everything finally clicked. For advanced stuff, sure they’re shit when they left alone. But as long as I approach it as a Junior Developer (breaking down the tasks to easy bites, having a clear plan all the time, steering away from pitfalls), I find myself enjoying other stuff while it’s doing the monkey work. Just be sure you provide it with tools, mcp, rag and some patience.
nah. well. that’s how Chinese industry rolls. they become contractors for western manufacturers, and when they got ordered, let’s say, 100.000 units, they produce 200.000 and sell the extra under their own brand. that’s how they’ve fucked over Audio device industry and now can produce no name headphones better than Sennheisers, or pro microphones better than Schoeps.
It predates LOTR just by 2 years yet I couldn’t help myself thinking how much Peter Jackson drew inspiration from it. Very similar shots, very similar visuals, very similar soundtrack, but ABYSMAL storytelling really ruins everything.
Esoterica is great. It’s mostly about gnostic side of western religious history. Dr. Justin Sledge is doing awesome research on the relevant topics. I’m watching that to know more about to put religion in a historical context.
I think there is a fine line between “installing an app” and “spinning up a docker image and keeping it maintained”.
I’m in the camp that Docker images are what .exe’s used to be, but they’re not easily accessible still. So Immich doesn’t count I fear.
