  • I sometimes watch ZX Spectrum playthroughs on YouTube. I know they're edited but seeing the games I played for hours being completed in twenty minutes blows my mind!

  • This is amazing. I think I watched this live at the time. I'll always remember the "based on famous battles" line followed by footage of soldiers fighting a giant crab!

  • I remember trying to storm the beach and getting cut down every time. You have to watch for a particular kind of gun fire strafing across the sand.

  • That was an awesome read, thank you. I bought Vigilante based on the packaging screen shots for my Atari ST.

    I didn't play it very much. 😁

  • Dreams, Illusions and Fantasies, Three awesome pinball games. I was very jealous of my Amiga friend because of these games. I think I got one of them on my PC because I remember playing a Haunted House table when I was supposed to leave and meet friends. I was an hour late because I was having such a good run, I didn't want to quit the table mid game!

  • Neill Blomkamp is a director with an amazing vision. District 9, Elysium, Chappie and the Oats Studio short films on YouTube.

But yet, Gran Turismo looks so generic. We've seen stories like this before. I'll watch eventually because I'm hoping there's something special that doesn't come through with these trailers.

  • "oh Liz, that was wonderful! How was it for you?" "That. Was. A. Disgrace!"

  • Baz Bamigboye, ex-entertainment columnist for the Daily Mail and also used to work at The Sun. Makes sense.

  • Recently I completed Crossing Souls. It's a game overloaded with 80s nostalgia. The soundtrack is from two composers. The first has 80s synth tracks while the other providers John Williams / Amblin like scores as the story of a group of young friends and feels like a movie from that time.

  • I used to put this on to drift asleep to. Fantastic soundtrack.

  • I'm playing through The Last of Us: Part 2 for the second time. I was inspired by watching HBO's adaptation, so I played through part one remastered and then started on Part 2 on my PS5. It's even better this time around as the PS5 60fps patch was released about a week after I first completed it!

Then I've got a stack of other large games to get through including Death Stranding and Cyberpunk 2077.

  • I'm not surprised. There was a tweet from Ed Soloman, one of the writers on Men In Black, some time ago now, showing his yearly statement of residuals on that film.

Despite making almost $600m on a $90m budget and spawning a franchise, he was informed by the statement that the film was a loss for Sony and the studio is still in the red.

  • You've reminded me of when Battlefield: Bad Company was first released on Xbox360 (and maybe PS3, I don't remember) EA released a more expensive gold steelbook edition where everything was unlocked from from the start with an included code.

  • I know right. What's the point of these new games coming with beautiful steel books but no discs.

I can see why because the games are so big, there's no point sticking a bit of it on a disc. That's why physical media is becoming redundant. All these games require patches to run and they won't be around for ever. Not even Switch games are complete on cartridge these days.

  • I'm not pissing on DLC, that content can be fantastic additions to already great games. What I find pointless are the pre order bonuses when it's just a fancy red coat when the base game comes with a blue one.

  • I've never understood the concept of pre ordering digital content, it's not going to run out of stock. And why pay extra for a few graphical items that don't change the way the game plays?

Also, surely digital games would be cheaper because there's no physical product to send to the customer? But there you go. Base copy of Diablo 4 is £70!! Wow!

  • True. My son has refunded so many games that he doesn't like, they locked his debit card from the account and I don't think it can be reinstated. We have to buy the games for him now with our cards.

  • I loved the way the story came through on my phone in breaking alerts in less than five minutes.

1: Police are taking no action 2: Wife says it's my hubby Hew. 3: Wife says, he's needing unwell and in hospital.

So are his news reading days over?
