  • Problem with publicly traded is that there is no personal risk past the price you bought the stocks for. You paid $ 1,000 for some stocks of "evil chemical corp"? Now your financial interest, and thats the only measureable one, would want them to pollute for a damage of $ 10,000 respective to the stock value if that increases your stock price to $ 2,000, as long as the risk of them having to pay for cleaning it up is smaller than 50%. Problem is the same holds true for a damage of $ 100,000 relative to your stock. Or any arbitrarily large amount. Your share in the damage caused could be in the billions, but worst thing the company goes bankrupt and you loose your stocks buying price.

The only alternative would be holding shareholders responsible with their own money, if a company is forced to pay up for damages they caused, going past its bankruptcy.

  • "how dare they". Because targeted assassinations are murder. They are barbaric and in contradiction to the rule of law. And with the civilian "casualties" in Beirut and Tehran it would be appropriate to condemn them as acts of terror, because that is what they are.

  • "violence evolved from student protests"... There is myriads of videos of the police attacking peaceful protests. This wording makes it seem, like the protestors were responsible, when they were victims of brutal police crackdowns.

  • Wasn't the last US aid package some 60 Billion dollars or so? Assuming thats for a year, that would make it about 5 Billion a month. So even if every drone would cost 5.000 Dollars, it would add up to about 10% of that budget.

And from what things in Ukraine look like, we hit a new era of warfare, with a change similiar in scope to the invention of the machinegun.

  • My experience is more people having those devices on top of having laptops. I don't know a single person in Uni that does not have a laptop at all. At last when it comes to writing reports or thesis you just need a proper keyboard device.

Meanwhile gaming and also PC gaming has become much bigger over the years, which keeps driving computer sales.

  • Dying during Hajj has always been a risk historically. Imagine you'd make the way from Afghanistan or Gambia to Mekka in the time before cars and planes. People were on the road for years, and the roads back then were a very different story.

Also for nowadays it needs to be kept in mind, that people often safe up a very long time, to afford doing Hajj. So by the time they saved enough money for it, they are quite old, which increases the risk of dying from heat.

  • If Biden just stumbled into politics 15 years ago, maybe one could say that. But he made staunch support for Israel integral to his political career for over 40 years. And he also didn't hold back on the "why". It is to serve US interests which for the Middle East have been destabilization and brutal violence.

  • Biden did not "inherit" the Israel situation. He made it a core part of his political career to be a staunch supporter of Zionism, ethnic cleansing and genocide against Palestinians.

This is Biden in 1986 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYLNCcLfIkM

"Where there not an Israel, the US would have to invent an Israel"

Biden has always been driven by a desire to cause destabilization and war in the Middle East, killing millions of people through various US policies and invasions during his long political career.

  • I think you are overestimating the precision of unguided rockets. Lets eyeball this:

Lets assume the rocket flies ten kilometers, which is on the short end of things. As it is subsonic, it at best could reach a speed of 300m/s (hypersonic is above 343 m/s). Since we are looking at an arc for the shape, lets assume a launch angle of 30°, making it a fairly flat arc. So the speed in ground direction then only is 86% which is cos 30° or in total 260m/s. So that rocket has to fly at least 38 seconds.

Taking just a sideways wind, assuming a gentle breeze on the beaufort scale, at about 4.5 m/s, that would result in a deviation of 171m over the 38 seconds. But now you get wind from the back or the front, which gives the rocket upwards or downwards drift. Or the wind isn't perfectly sideways, so it actually changes the direction the propulsion is pushing too. Over such a range you also get changing wind speeds and directions...

You face the same thing with artillery. Which is why it is usually used in batteries and to cover an area, rather than hit a specific target. Although Artillery is easier in the sense, that the propulsion happens right in the beginning and is aimed correctly.

If we are talking guided missiles, it is a very different story, although i would be suprised if Hezbollah had access to GPS guiding or similiar high precision tools.

  • Hezbollah started limited attacks after Israel starting bombing Gaza. That was the level of engagement for many months. The understanding to keep it at that level changed with Israel escalating into Syria and Lebanon more and more, as well as the total annihilation they bring on Gaza.

You don't need to look at all of the "conflict". However the fundamentals are not complicated. Israel is a settler colonial state. It is found on and will be completed by genocide and ethnic cleansing of the population it is stealing the land from. This is what happened in what is today the US. This is what France tried in Algeria. And you find this again and again throughout human history.

You can engage in all sorts of debates as to who has shot first at what point, but this fundamental structure of the situation does not change.

Hezbollah made it clear they don't want an escalation and the way to end the fighting and the border is by Israel ending the genocide in Gaza. The same goes for the regime in Iran, which had to respond to Israels assault on the embassy, but they did so in a matter to show force, without causing relevant damage. The one escalating is Netanyahu, who hopes to draw all of the west into a total war in the middle east, because the support for his genocide is dwindling.

It is the mindset of a schoolyard bully, that always picks fights, to then call on his bigger brother to defend him. It would be funny, if it wouldnt be a genocidal maniac, that is set to put the lives of hundreds of millions of people at risk.

  • It is also okay not to be good a "small talk". I quite frankly hate it and for the most part i tend to overwhelm people in conversations. Now i am happily married and we still sometimes end up just talking all night, because we engage in conversations we both find meaningful.

Weirdly enough and quite annoyingly now that i am married and built some confidence, a lot of women are hitting on me, and seemingly unfazed by me stating the fact that i am married. Had to cut out a few people from my life because of that.

  • You are conviently forgetting the whole aspect that it isnt your yard, but you stole it by murdering and driving out the family that used to live there. Now some of that family is in my house and other parts of the family are in the house next over, that you are currently setting on fire.

So yeah, that is you escalating shit in that analogy.

  • I fail to see your point. There is more displaced Lebanese and much more Lebanese killed by Israel since Oct. 7. Considering displacement overall, adding in the 2 million displaced in Gaza, the attempt to put the blame on Hezbollah fails completely.

On September 1 1939 Germany invaded Poland. On September 3, France, the UK and other UK affiliated states declared war on Germany. I hope it is obvious, that this does not put the blame of escalation on France and the UK.
