  • Cutting all economic and diplomatic ties, putting sanctions and blocking ships headed to or from there passing through the red sea would indicate he means it.

If the arab leaders had made a stance, the genocide would have ended in November and Israel would be back in 1967 borders by end of next year.

The budget could increase by 70-90% compared to initial estimates, with commissioning delayed up to four to six years.

In France, the government plans to build six EPR – with a possibility of eight more – at an average cost of €52 billion. The first commissioning is scheduled for 2035.

However, according to Les Échos, the costs have already been revised upwards by 30%. When for a comment, EDF CEO Luc Rémont “would not confirm any figures.”

  • Yeah and because those new designs are so great we see them installed all over the world. Except the projects take decades, skyrocket in costs and get delayed for decades on top.

Advocating for nuclear power now is in the best interest of the oil lobby. And it is simply impossible to solve the urgent energy transition with it, even if all the miracles promised about it were true.

  • Your entire argument is a fallacy of saying it is either nuclear or coal, when in reality it is either renewables or coal+nuclear.

It is the same companies that want to continue both coal and nuclear, because it requires similar components in the power plants and similar equipment for mining.

Also the same government in Germany that expanded the nuclear power slashed the build up of renewables, resulting in the long time for coal in the first place.

Stop being a fossil shill. If you shill for nuclear you shill for coal too.

  • I am not sure to be happy or worried about this. On the one hand they could turn on themselves and be busy with infighting, leaving the rest of the world alone. On the other hand it is an extremely vile hateful ideology that can explode into massive violence easily.

  • Boxing has weight classes. As do most other martial arts.

The problem is not a 50kg men fighting a 70kg women in terms of injuries and power imbalance. And in that set up the women most likely wins. The problem is the typical situation of a 80-100 kg men smacking down on a 50-60kg women. And that is the image the demagogues try to conjure.

So if your full blown men is a 60kg feather to be able to compete against another 60kg women, the whole trope falls apart.

  • If you think your dad was sent to fight against the Nazis for ideological opposition, i have bad news for you. Maybe he personally fought out of that motivation, but must countries at the time were either fascist themselves or on the edge to fascism.

If you look at the US there was the ongoing genocide against native Americans, the racial segregation, eugenics, despicable human experimentation carried out on minorities, concentration camps for Japanese during WW2... Even the pledge to the flag in the schools was something Hitler admired and copied. Until the German Nazis became unpopular in the US the pledge to the flag with done with the "Bellamy Salute" that is the same as the Nazi salute. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bellamy_salute

    )

The truth is, they never left.

What is different though is that after WW2 it was understood which social problems, in particular fucking over the lower and middle class, create the breeding ground for fascism to be successful. Since the 1980s with Thatcher and Reagan and then the neoliberal wave over Europe, we had 40 years of deliberately empowering fascism. Now they reap what they sew.

  • Stop spreading war crime propaganda.

Israel has every ability to prosecute its own citizens living inside its own borders. It is not undermined by the ICC arrest warrant. Switching offender and victim of course is a typical Israeli propaganda strategy. The ICC acts because Israel chooses not to act. And the ICC does not appease anyone, as can been seen with the vile attacks now being thrown at it by the US and other Israeli allies. Also the Mossad was harassing ICC members for close to a decade now to prevent them for prosecuting Israeli war crimes.

  • I think you misunderstand rich people. Why do you think they make PACs? Why do you think they make Ivy Leagues and send their kids there? Why do you think they keep up all these illusions. Do you think they are too stupid to realize that you can get an equivalent education for a fraction of that money?

  • Their “class” is not important when it comes to investing. If they could fire all the nepo babies and use AI instead, they would do it in 1 second.

Firing the nepo babys remains consistent with being the owning class. And they put the nepo babies so they dont have to put rising middle and lower class people there.

  • There is thousands of videos online of IDF soldiers documenting and cheering on their own war crimes. Looting, Pillaging, Abusing, Raping, Murdering.

It is evident that they do not fear any repercussions and only when the international pressure gets to high, a tiny few get "investigated" or even more rarely get a small "conviction".

What is left of Israels civil society and every country that easily allows travel for Israels should be alarmed. When thousands of people that learned to expect impunity for the most gruesome crimes will come back to life among them.

  • Looks like Netanyahu is getting what he wants. The US drags itself in another war in the Middle East. Harris will suffer for it in the elections, as she will be loosing the communities she won back after being alienated by Bidens zionist fanaticism. The US might end up doint the dirty work in Iran and Iraq, if things escalate fully. And Israel can finalize the genocide and annexation of all of Palestine, while pretending to be the victim again.

  • Israel may not heavily punish those who commit war crimes, but they do prosecute them, and that’s the bar that’s needed to avoid sanctions. Like it or don’t like it, but that’s the way the world works right now.

The ICC is seeking arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant because evidently Israel is not prosecuting its war criminals.

  • Ivy League, internships etc. prove exactly what you are critizising. They prove to have the connections. They prove to be part of the in-group. They prove that you will defend your class interests against the lower classes. And if you are one of the very few people who achieve upwards class mobility, they prove that you will be betraying them.

This is not about running the best company or running the best economy. It is about maintaining class power and privilege.

  • It depends on the algorithms used. Now the lazy approach is to just throw neural networks at everything and waste immense computation ressources. Of course you then get results that are difficult to interpret. There is much more efficient algorithms that are working well to solve many problems and give you interpretable decisions.

  • Thank you for giving some insights into ML, that is now often just branded "AI". Just one note though. There is many ML algorithms that do not employ neural networks. They don't have billions of parameters. Especially in binary choice image recognition (looks like cancer or no) stuff like support vector machines achieve great results and they have very few parameters.

  • They can do that with a lot of them, but not all. You can't really sell an oil platform when nobody is buying oil anymore. The "stranded assets" is a huge motivator for fossil industries to prolong the switch to renewables as long as possible. Problem is the governments being complicit. They could have made clear paths from when on no new fossil investments were allowed to create a proper phase out.
