  • Yeah, my reading of Article 14 sec 3 is simply put he cant hold office. Doesn't mention anything about elections or what to do if he wins an election (unless congress votes 2/3 to allow him to hold office). Up until that point it is likely a state matter for how they handle their elections, especially when it does not involve the general/federal elections.

I'd say it likely falls under whatever "Obama wasn't born in America, he can't be president" if that statement were ever actually true. I don't know the legal precedence though for people running for office that aren't legally qualified to hold the office.

I'm sure if he actually wins the primary for the GOP ticket, it will end up at the supreme court. Honestly this is a golden opportunity for the GOP to rid themselves of the burden that is Trump, and they would fully get to blame the Supreme Court and democrats, and scream about it til the end of time for their electorate; many of them hate having to cow-tow to Trump, and even regret missing the opportunity to impeach him and be done with him. Y'all get a second chance, and this time very little backlash for yourselves, unlike if you'd voted to impeach after Jan 6th.

  • I would not recommend working on two GUI's at once, but if you build it in a way you can use different frameworks for it, the maker of Rich also makes a nice TUI framework API called Textual.

Here's some projects made with it for a sample of what it's usage can look like: https://www.textualize.io/projects/

I believe it does not use curses at all.

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ7fTSirNDs if you want to watch a video all about the situation, and history, instead of having to read up on it.

TLDR though: To keep the borders they've had for like 100ish years, it's a low population poorer country that is now rising in wealth due to a lot of oil in their exclusive economic zone thanks to the current borders. Their neighbor wants 2/3 of their territory, and control to the large supply of quality oil.

I would still watch the video though, was very informative.

  • I'd love to know as well.

Been using it for a while as the 2FA app used and recommended by Leo Laporte. I've had a good experience with it, but if it has any issues, I would love to know.

Edit: A while being a year or two.

  • I feel like Discord fills a different need than forum type systems.

The one API I have on discord, likes Discord as a place for casual chat about the system. I think the devs prefer it because it is an active place for the community; to word it better, 'hey look at this cool thing I did' > response within a few minutes 'that's cool' heart5 *fire*3 thumbs up^7. Whereas on a forum you'd be waiting for hours, or just not have that casual of a conversation.

It replaces the old usage of IRC servers.

The help channel is highly responsive, and great for things you want a quick chat about, need a response now, or if you get help now great, but if not, you'll figure it out on your own before you would ever get help on a forum, so it's not worth posting to a forum.

Threads really do help organize when a discussion is going to be large, and discord is very much searchable, just not from your browser search engine.

For changes to the API, ideas, issues, or bugs, they direct you to github "Discussions" or "Issues". They do have an idea discord channel, but it's a more casual thing, or far out there discussions.

Discord does get a lot of hate for it's searchability, which is valid, but I don't have a problem with it as long as places like Stack Overflow (or what replaces it) are still around.

  • Thanks. They either wisened up that people don't like change and need to force it, or didn't add the option to android.

The "New Layout" section exists on android, but they got rid of the toggle; now you can only give feedback or learn more.

I would like the option to toggle off new layout, but do agree if that is the layout going forward, they should have it as the default so new people learn it out the door, but those that don't like the change have a choice.

I'm sure the change is fine, I've just spent the past few days too busy to realize it was an update change, and that my app was buggy, having trouble finding DMs, and switching back to servers.

I'm sure it was an announcement/dev notes, but they've trained me to not read those and immediately close them, because they happen every few days, and they always pop up when i am opening the app from notification, and I just want to reply to the notification, not deal with adverts for Nitro, or to subscribe now while there is this super special discount, or learn about 3 new features I will never use, nor care about.

  • I'm sure there's lots of solutions, but Steam with Proton for any windows only games has generally worked great for me.

Where I encounter issues, the Lutris flatpak install has worked well for me.

Both I believe use wine, but it is probably easier use downstream solutions like the above when getting started, instead of learning wine. Not that there aren't benefits to learning it, just in a immediate issues -> lets go back to windows VS it just kind of works pretty good comparison.

Steam having a fair number of games that are directly Linux compatible now days is nice too.

  • I actually am in the market for a new mobo and cpu.

Are there any mobo's nowdays that don't use UEFI? I just want an old traditional style BIOS with a jumper to restore it from a ROM chip if I get any malware, so I can actually trust my hardware.

I did force myself to deal with UEFI for the sake of windows, but gaming has gotten good enough on Linux, I don't actually need to dual boot windows anymore.

    Am I asking too much?

  • I remember thinking in 2020 when the GOP skipped primaries for Trump - 'How undemocratic. People should have a choice.' It would be hipocritical of me not to apply the same to the Democrats.

I say let Dean Philips run. He's mostly unknown, but he only got into politics because of Trump, in 2017, and only announced his bid for the presidency like a month ago. Give us time to get to know the man outside his own state; I'd prefer him to people I know are in corporate pockets like Newsom.

  • Nothing! I'm going with a Sega Dreamcast/Gamecube classic, and jumping into Phantasy Star Online BB for the holiday weekend. Apparently private server even has a guide for getting it running on Steam Deck (or any Linux distro), but I'll just be playing on PC.

  • Unless the homosexuals are sexing it up in public, it sounds a lot like their classification of 'sexual conduct' would also include displays of heterosexuality.

Sounds like a puritan style ban on all forms of PDA; should either be equally applied to all sexuality, or struck from the books (in this case, seems to overly violate individual freedom, unless the locals overwhelmingly consider PDA to be indecent...). I wouldn't go for the former option though... equality in enforcement would be a constant concern.

  • While there are many other pressing issues about our democracy (from an American perspective), this is the strongest issue I take.

I can't see things turning out well with Trump as a wartime president, particularly if he just keeps America out of important matters on the world stage (or worse yet, panders and sides with those who seek harm to America and the 'West'. Let your allies weaken enough/succumb to your 'enemies', and it ultimately weakens oneself.

  • I normally buy Charmin ultra soft at Costco.

I was at target and we were low, so just grabbed some there.

Turns out the rolls (cardboard tube and all) were like an inch less wide. For some reason that extra inch makes me comfortable, and I've been so angry at the Target rolls while I try to use them up. I have big hands.. this kind of shrinkflation can get messy.

  • Indeed. Need to vote all democrat down the ticket (hopefully with good choices in primaries) for the moment to preserve American democracy and freedom. Once the current fascist/authoritarian push is in the rear view mirror, then we can work on better choices.

This is Biden's last chance at a second term, he will not try again if he loses to Trump. Trump on the other hand will probably keep trying until he is dead, in prison, or his health in old age drags him down; Here's hoping Biden wins this one, and by 2028 Trump's health will be in decline/prevent him from running.

  • Well, they did recently finally push through some promotions, and Tuberville's response was basically 'see, they could push through promotions any time they want, don't blame me for holding things up'.

Point well made though, the military should be ready for their duties, and it's time to say they've given Tuberville all the time they can and just push ahead.

  • I do feel many of these nations should just straight up rent ports and such to China instead of taking the loans, in exchange for a lump sum payment, with restrictions for military use/limitations, and usage in support of war.

Might not get quite as much money, but seems far more favorable than the outcomes of belt-and-road loans (not just in the unlikelihood of debt repayment, but how the funding is used [vendor/company restrictions]).

  • I love 3D movies.

That said, I refuse to go to a movie theater now days.

I'd rather just buy the movie on Streaming and watch any time I want, as many times as I want.

But I don't have 3D at home, or a home theater type setup, so, it is just something I go without. Would of course love a home theater with 3D capability, but that ain't happening, so, life goes on.
