  • Happened probably in 2009 or 2010, I really don't recall if there were police waiting on the side of the road or not. Probably not. Why would they wait for the light to turn green to block the road? I just remember advancing in the tunnel and looking in the mirror, there were police car blocking the road behind me.

But I bet it was something like that. No idea why it was so urgent for me to get out of there.

  • Not as simplistic as I wanted. I tried loads of prompts and my instructions for simplistic, crude drawings, even stick figure drawings were all ignored. Here we go anyway.

Here's the prompt that generated this particular image.

A charcoal cartoonish drawing of a tree holding a brush and a color palette in a forest. Next to the tree, there is an easel and a canvas with a portrait of Bob Ross.

  • It took place on a weekday morning, in the late 2000s, I dropped my ex at her workplace, and then I start driving towards my own workplace. I need to take a tunnel downtown, there's a traffic light just before the tunnel. The light is red, I wait. The light turns green, I go ahead, along with another car next to me.

Right behind me, in my mirror, I see police cars blocking the street at the traffic light. I'm the last car that went through the traffic light. No other cars can make it behind me.

I'm kinda freaking out. Why are the police cars blocking the way to the tunnel?

I then realize there are only two cars in the tunnel, mine, and the car just before me. No other car. At 9am. On a weekday. What the hell is going on?

I keep on driving, everything seems normal, apart from the complete lack of cars.

Eventually, I see the end of the tunnel, with police cars on either side of the road. And police officers making OBVIOUS signs with their arms : "Get the fuck out of there, quick, faster!".

Me and the other car make it out of the tunnel, then In my mirror, again, I see 4 police cars blocking the way out of the tunnel.

I turned on the radio. Nothing about this event. I searched the news websites for the whole day, I didn't find anything. I asked around, at work, in social media, nobody knew about this. I didn't think of calling the police station. I never learned what the hell happened in this tunnel.

My bet is it was either a bomb threat, or they had to catch a known criminal in this tunnel, or maybe a collapse danger of some kind. But the fact that it didn't make local news is mind boggling to me. I sometimes wonder if I dreamed this.

  • We do have a strong cultural identity. But even I, who is aware of the problem and think we should defend our culture, have stopped consuming it since the arrival of Netflix and streaming services.

Internet has a part in that as well. When I was a kid, you would start learning English in grade 4, meaning 10 years old, in school. My son could count to 10 in English at 2 years old. Because youtube. Because of all the diversity of content we have access to now, that we didn't have access to back in the days.

It's probably the same thing in most non English countries.

Is slow, it's pernicious, and probably inevitable over time. We can probably slow it down... I'm not sure.

  • I've got this easy recipe that I keep doing on weekdays, for lunch, 3 times a week.

    Ingredients :

    • 1 pita bread
    • some protein (eggs, tuna, chicken...)
    • 1 green onion
    • small cubes of cheese, I like using feta, but whatever you prefer
    • I like adding fruits like a few sliced grapes or half an apple, diced
    • diced bell pepper, sweet pickles, whatever veggies you like.
    • arugula or spinach or lettuce
    • some sunflower seeds
    • 1 spoon of light Philadelphia cream cheese, to keep all of it together.

    Instructions :

    1. Mix all the stuff.
    2. Cut the pita bread in 2 halves.
    3. Fill them with the stuff.
    4. Add the remaining of the apple to the plate
    5. Consume and enjoy greatly.
  • All hail King Chuck.

For those who didn't watch the show Better Call Saul : in the show, Saul's brother, Chuck, becomes obsessed by energy fields and waves created by electronic devices and ends up living in the dark without electricity, covering himself in tin foil blankets. The two other characters are his brother, Saul, and Kim, a lawyer.

    Here's the prompt :

Michael McKean as a mad king, sitting in a throne made of tin foil, holding an sceptre very poorly made of tin foil. His crown and toga are poorly made of tin, also made by a child. His subjects, Saul Goodman and Kim Wexler are standing on each side of his throne, they wear their regular apparel, but they are also made of tin foil.

I'm not satisfied with Saul's face, but I'm glad I had Kim Wexley generated. I tried using various variations, real actor names and all, but mostly always ended up with Chuck's face on every body. I also wanted the accessories to look like they were made by a kid (you know what I mean) but I wasn't able to. So I'll go with that one :)

  • I put on new socks everyday. But if I get up early, and have to do stuff as soon as I'm up, I might put back the clothes I had the previous day and, like, prepare my son's breakfast, then I go take a shower, then I put on new clothes.
