  • Well, I'd never want to rain on someone's parade.

    Lob away!

  • I mean, I watched bush's inauguration as a kid, and was stoked for Obama's having voted in my first presidential election.

Purely based on "middle aged white guy=mid numbers" and "first black president=large numbers" I feel that "first Woman, and second POC" will mean bigly numbers.

If it's not, I'll be amazed.

  • Pfffffffff he doesn't know how the three shells work!

  • Take a look at the "rounds fired" vs "shots hit" and you'll quickly see why "we are the ones all about guns" and not "the ones all about accuracy"

  • I started another re-watch this week and I've missed hearing Previously, on Battlestar Galactica.

  • ..... Is there any other way to watch them?

  • I'd love for the US to go completely hands-off the middle east if only just to stop comments like this up that seem to think one country can somehow be responsible for tons of other countries meddling in the same area.

I mean, I want that so people will stop being ripped apart by us-made explosives, tax money stops being wasted, and focus more on improving things for the people within it's own borders and making it more inclusive to outsiders, but stopping comments like that is a nice little bonus.

  • Elevates the recap from this

    To this

  • So many baby Megacerops needlessly slaughtered for humanity's towel-hanging lust.

  • Hmm.

Well then If it's also not someone from Saint Seiya, based off what you said it is or isn't, that would be my knowledge of pre-2k anime exhausted.

  • I'd argue the type of people who sign up to be first on an extra-solar planet to settle are exactly the kind of people who would rather shuttle down with a printer and a prayer than find a small town.

I mean, if I were to sign on, I would want to know what the settlement plan is (Like who's doing what jobs, how will we produce food assuming there is 0 viable land to grow on, what's the worst case scenario that has been planned for, etc) as well as having a say in said plan... And I know plenty of people who would happily sign on knowing it's gonna be just them, a tarp, and a Gransfors Bruks axe vs everything the planet can throw at them and they might die inside a week if they aren't careful.

And yeah, I imagine if I showed up and all the super hard work was done but everything was still getting started, I'd probably be a little more upbeat. But in no way would I want to see a planet filled with people who got there first. Worse yet, got there by being the 8th generation to be born there.

I guess it depends what stage of the colonization effort you're on. People signing on for the tail end would be ecstatic, probably.

  • I wouldn't say "embarrassing" unless you are actually embarrassed by it.

There are certain pieces of media I have connected with that I won't get into detail about, but I wrote up a whole fanfiction about back in the day. Looking back, I'd say my past self certainly loved one of the characters. I'm not embarrassed by that, but I don't like... Have it in my dating profile.

It's certainly unorthodox to say you're "in love" with a fictional character, but ultimately as long as it isn't a detriment to your mental well-being or "real life", then ultimately does it matter if someone might giggle at your expense?

  • Maybe not the point, but still fun.

I'm guessing someone from the Macross series, maybe Robotech.

Because nobody ever talks about those, and some of the characters are pretty relatable and get in some sketchtastic situations that take awhile to be saved from.

Ultimately I don't want to be told the real answer. It's just fun to guess.

  • I'm not saying this to try and downplay your own emotions, but some level of "not wanting to see my favorite character in pain" is pretty normal for everyone. Not to this extent, but on some level, for everyone.

In Stargate Atlantis, when Dr Rodney McKay gets a brain parasite that turned his brain into basically a child, I lost my shit. I had to stop the episode to take a break multiple times because I literally couldn't see the screen. Didn't matter that I was certain they would have him back to normal by the end of the episode. Doesn't matter that I know how the episode ends now. Still can't watch it all in one go without problems.

That might have more to do with personal phobias though, because every other time he's in danger I react about the same way the other characters do. Eye roll and a chuckle, because he's probably overreacting out of anxiety (definitely not something I would do... Heh.......)

As others have said, and I'm just confirming, empathy is pretty normal, and likely the closest thing in English at least. Can someone ask a German?

  • Well, it HAS been about a generation since we invaded. Gotta do something with this overinflated budget.

What? No, we can't afford Healthcare. Shut up.

  • Allowed to?

    Yes.

Is it still legally binding should such joke events occur?

    Also yes.

If I say "this company is not liable for any damages caused by sudden laser eyes (unless the laser is TRUE yellow)" well then, if someone suddenly develops yellow laser eyes using my product.... Guess who's on the hook for damages.

  • I want to believe

  • What percentage of their DNA is from Homo Neanderthalensis?
