  • I mean, I don't think you get to decide what the scope of the context is.

For this not to be contextual you would have to claim that the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians had nothing to do with the gunman's motive. I think that would be hard to claim considering that the murders were politically motivated, considering that the two victims were diplomats.

I think people have gotten a little too comfortable with claiming anything that shares a sentence structure with a logical fallacy to be a logical fallacy. You have to remember that logical fallacies have to be illogical in the first place. It's not illogical to assume these two claims are associated.

Whataboutism have to equivocate two different scenarios that aren't logically associated with the events in the originating claim.

  • I mean context is always important. Pretty sure any murder investigation goes into the motivation of the person who killed the victims.

I think it's important to dispel the notion that the occupation of a neighboring country is somehow an act of protection, when it's pretty obvious that it's sparked a lot of provocation.

  • I mean also.....

"In his final post on social media hours before the attack, Lischinsky had shared a post from the Israeli ambassador, Amir Weissbrod, accusing UN officials of engaging in “blood libel” over claims that 14,000 children faced starvation in Gaza."

Not saying they deserved any violence, but even once moderate Israelis have been driven pretty far right in the last couple years. Accusations of blood libel while the state is actively starving children doesn't exactly seem to be promoting any positive dialogue.

  • Gotta feed your hounds if you want to sic your attack dogs on someone. At this point there is going to be some sort of judicial or legislative confrontation whether it be meek or consequential. Midterms will be here sooner or later and he needs his constituents to feel like they are being attacked, he needs to feel like they need him to defend their ways of life.

  • Putain has zero intention of ending this without the full and complete subjugation of Ukraine.

Even if Russia subjugated the entirety of Ukraine, they still couldn't afford to stop. They've completely transitioned to a war time economy and have isolated all foreign capital.

If Putin decides to end the campaign in Ukraine, it would just mean that they're about to invade somewhere like Slovenia. They're economy couldn't handle the transition into a regular economy without imploding.

  • Surely attacking the musical embodiment of the working class in New Jersey will be good for the conservatives.....right?

I feel like if he wanted Jersey to file articles of succession all he would have to do at this point is ban pork rolls.

  • The problem is that this is how fascism ferments, it's not about planning, it's about taking action. So what if it doesn't pass through the courts? For trump and his supporters that's just evidence that the courts are against him. That the courts are not equipped to deal with today's problems. That we don't need courts, we just need to give someone enough power to get the job done.

  • Yeap, for a long time liberal and conservative politicians utilized putting POC in jail as a middle ground for policy. It's basically the mortar of third way politics, popularized by the Clinton's in the US. Their "super predators " policy was instrumental in breaking the gridlock in Congress in the 90s, and basically responsible for current Democrats willingness to capitulate to the GOP at the drop of a dime. Adopting Third way politics is basically opening an express lane to fascism.

  • Why don't the homeless just simply befriend the children of oil tycoons and have them gift them a vineyard? Then they too could one day fail upwards to become the governor of California.

If Gavin wasn't the friend of a billionaire he would be an illiterate moron who couldn't hold down a job.

  • Not specific enough. Going by typical evil genie rules you'd be born in 47', but be a poc in like Alabama or Oklahoma. Just in time to get drafted to fight in Vietnam and then have to fight for civil rights at home.

  • The hilarious thing about all these fascist trying to claim that the new Pope is woke is that he's more conservative than Francis.

Prevost opposes the ordination of women to the diaconate, arguing it "doesn't necessarily solve a problem" and could create new issues.[106]

Prevost opposes euthanasia, abortion, and the death penalty.

Prevost opposed the inclusion of "gender ideology" in Peruvian school curricula, stating it promotes "genders that don't exist".[81][121] In 2012, he criticized popular culture's sympathy for the "homosexual lifestyle" and same-sex families.[122] Prevost expressed reservations about "sympathy for beliefs and practices that contradict the gospel"

Just because he doesn't hate brown people and doesn't like trump they're doing trans phrenology on him lol.

  • Lethal injections are performed by physicians.

No they are not. They're usually performed by volunteers, most commonly EMTs or nurses. A lot of state protocols request that a physician be present to witness and call time of death, but even that's rare.

The code of ethics in the AMA strictly prohibits physicians from participating in executions.

"A physician must not participate in a legally authorized execution," the American Medical Association says in its Code of Medical Ethics. "When physicians participate in capital punishment, they are being utilized to intentionally inflict harm by using their medical knowledge and skills to forcibly cause death," AMA media relations manager R.J. Mills told NPR. "Physicians who participate in capital punishment take an active role as agents of the state, not as advocates for the condemned, even if their intent is to minimize suffering."

  • ml is pretty trans rights, because their mods are hexbear alt

Hexbear has had its fair share of issues with sexism and objectification of trans women. There was a pretty big upset a while ago where people spoke up about being harassed, the community's reaction to it was pretty shitty.

  • I've said this before, but I truly believe at some point a psychiatrist diagnosed RFK Jr with autism or some kind of spectrum disorder and we are now getting to experience his grand display of denialism.

The guy was best friends with his flacon, was constantly called an odd kid, and has been fixated with being around, talking about, or acquiring dead animals since a very young age.

I don't know if he's actually autistic or just severely traumatized, but based on his bio it wouldn't surprise me if someone's given him the diagnoses in the past based on his history of troubling behavior.

  • Women have more rights than men, PERIOD.

    E.g: They don't get drafted

So your one example of women having more rights is a rule made by a society ruled by men? Some people would argue that women are being deprived of the right to fight for their nation.....

In most every metric of power in modern society, men are placed over women. In wealth, political appointment, the judiciary, the military, and the police force we see men hold the vast majority of power.

Name a right women have that men do not and I can guarantee that example was implemented and enforced by a group mostly made of men.

  • It's almost like memes are based on context...... The reason it's impactful is because in humans it's rare to see women be the more powerful sex, it's rare to see women kill men. Flipping the genders wouldn't flip the context of the the social norms that the meme is dependent on.

  • A large aspect of humor is a reverse of expectations. The reason this is funny and the reverse is not is because the meme is the reverse of the social normative of humans. Men kill more women, men are bigger and stronger than women, men have more social power than women.

Your accusations of sexism rings hollow when you actually use logic and apply the situation to the realities of our actual societal structure.
