If there was no competition in the world, would there still be Nazis? If everyone had their needs met, would there still be racism on that scale?
Its a hard question for me. The OG Nazi party was born out of the desperation of post WWI Germany. If the world would've come together after WWI and decided to work together on a global scale, Germany would have been rebuilt with the help of the rest of the world, and Hitler's words would have at least struggled to reach anyone.
I realize this is all a very hypothetical, fairy tale, line of thinking. I am most definitely on team "punch a Nazi", myself. I just wonder if it would be the same if the world wasn't a hyper competitive capitalistic battleground.
That's fair and reasonable. I just think that the fact that alcohol use is so common, it makes it very unfair to pick on other drug users as if they are somehow worse or more prone to violence than alcoholics are.
I don't think drug use by itself should be enough to take away your gun rights, personally. I do believe mental health reasons are acceptable, though, and if the drug a person is using is making them mentally unstable, then that should be the main reason their gun rights are removed.
I do think that keeping guns out of easy, legal, access of active drug abusers is appropriate. But as you say, without a conviction, the scope of those restrictions should be narrow and appeal-able.
Considering that the form 4473 that you have to sign to purchase a firearm makes no mention of alcohol, I think this is hypocritical, at best. What's the difference between alcoholics owning a firearm, and heroin addicts owning a firearm? All I know is that I would be way less worried about the junkie gun owner than a raging alcoholic gun owner.
Its a dumb law, that was probably spawned from racism. Nobody should have their gun rights removed if they did not do or threaten anything violent.
My apologies, that repo most definitely used to have what you are looking for. I tried out LSD dream emulator off of their awhile back and they also used to have N64 Roms. I should've checked.
Your assumptiom would most likely be wrong. The vast majority of punks in general are anti-racist and would gladly punch a Nazi. The ones that are most likely to actually deliver the punch are the bald guys in typical punk attire.
The original skinhead movement was very progressive, anti-racist, and there are plenty of skinhead punks still representing it in the exact same way. All of the skinhead punks in my area identify as SHARPS or Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice, and I don't live in a super progressive place or anything.
Nazi skinhead punks aren't seen in public much, nowadays, mostly thanks to the guaranteed violence from the people mentioned above. If they are brave enough to be in public, they will make it known with some sort of asshole patch, asshole tattoo, or doc marten boots with white laces, but I've never seen one at a normal punk show.
It sounds like you are a Democratic Socialist from this tidbit.
I kind of feel the same way. I think the economic theory behind communism/socialism sounds much more beneficial towards our progress as a species and towards a more sustainable existence. I just don't agree with the authoritarian methods of implementation. I think that if socialism is going to succeed, it will need to come about in a gradual democratic way.
Thanks for pointing this out. To some people, advocates for things like socialized healthcare are 'tankies'. Its hard to tell what people mean anymore by it, and one persons tankie might be another's centrist at this point.
I was going to say, isn't the Kama Sutra a Hindu text? We have a bunch of sex positions that may have been lost to time if it weren't for the Hindu religion.
As a fellow meat eater, I appreciate the spotlight being shown on the cruelty of the meat industry at large, as well as you do. It has made me more conscious of my meat consumption, and I have reduced my consumption of it. It has also made me aware of sourcing more ethical meat from local butchers that are supplied by local free range farms.
I hope that this awareness continues to spread, and it helps speed up the development of things like lab grown meat and other more ethical sources of meat, in general.
I understand that, but my point was that we aren't carnivores at all, we are omnivores.
I am not vegan FWIW, I was just responding to the person who was saying that comparing us to sea carnivores was a bad comparison, when comparing us to land carnivores yields the same results. It seemed kind of like they missed the point of the joke which was to make fun of people who wrongly call us carnivores, especially as a response to veganism.
It was all kind of useless pedantry on my part, anyways, so I apologize.
Ahh my bad I got whooshed. I don't get the music, but I'm on mobile Firefox with ublock origin so maybe that's why. I do get the rainbows and ponies, though. Its beautiful.
The sweating and shaking is the parts I haven't heard before, but as someone who has smoked a lot of weed and quit a few times, the problems with sleeping were definitely a thing for me. I've also worked in the industry for a while and have heard restlessness affecting other people who quit.
