Like the guy or not, it's about the precedent. If they arrest him for criticism they can arrest any politician they want for any reason. I don't like Newsom either, but if he actually got arrested for this we are all fucked. Arresting people simply because you disagree with them is exactly what fascists do and advocating for it in any way is dangerous and only enables it further.

I don't really care that much. If they are doing it to be insulting that's just the type of person they are. If they do it because they are uninformed I can forgive and happily educate them on the fact that brains just work differently on a person to person basis.
In that situation specifically, seeing as your friend meant no harm, id probably just tell them "hey man, that's not cool just so you know for future reference." And just because feelings are hurt doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing. It just means that a line was unintentionally crossed because they didn't know the line was there. Everyone has these lines and half of life is just figuring out where your lines are and where the lines of the people you care about are. If your friend had no bad intentions I'd say don't take it personally. I know it can be hard sometimes, but just remember that they are your friend.
Because he spent the last 4 months balls deep in everything relating to the government and probably has access to all the information he could ever want to take him down. I fucking hate the guy, but it's one of those "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" kinda situation.
It's just like when he was going hard into supporting LGBTQ+ stuff. He doesn't care about anything besides what people think of him. His beliefs have been all over the place ever since he entered the public eye and he has never been consistent. He just wants the majority on his side and will flipflop his own beliefs to achieve it.
Just look at some of his speeches from the last time he was president and you'll see the difference is night and day. Before it was just stupidity, but now it's so much worse and he can barely form a sentence compared to then. And for all the people saying "well, Biden was clearly in decline too and everyone tried to hide it." And you're probably right. But you know what? He's not the president right now. And if it was such a big deal back then it should be an even bigger deal now because we are still letting it happen.
Hey, I've just been waiting for the moment when Elmo turns against him. Saw it coming back in February and I'm all here for it. Fuck both if them, I just like to see them fight and I hope it gets substantially worse. Like, "I'm gonna tell everyone how I basically paid for and rigged the election" kinda worse. As much as I hate to admit it a lot of people still think Leon is a genius and trust his opinion on everything. So if he goes against them all I'm sure he'll bring a lot of followers.
As someone that has been a surveyor on a couple of hospital construction projects, this is more common than you think. Usually it's fixed before it's too late and we will literally do a 3D scan of the concrete slabs to show very accurately how flat it is so it can be mended before they move on. For things like apartment buildings the tolerance is relatively flexible within a couple centimeters depending on how large the building is, but for things like hospitals they usually have a tolerance of like less than a centimeter in some cases. What this sounds like to me is that they either knew it was wrong and went with it anyway (worst case), didn't know their tolerances, didn't get it verified by a surveyor, hired subpar subcontractor, or the construction company never worked on a project with this kind of scope.
I think they are screwed no matter what. Best case scenario it's one if the subcontractors they hired for layout that fucked it up. Every other scenario i can think of just seems like incompetence to me. I'm not gonna say they should have just done it correctly the first time because mistakes happen. I mean, half my job was figuring out how to fix something that got messed up. It's the fact that they didn't rectify it during the construction process that really fucks them here.
Those things are surprisingly more hidden than you'd think. I had one right across the street from where I lived for a year and a half before I noticed it. But as soon as you know it's there it sticks out pretty bad.
As much as I love the Doom games I'm not really a fan of the $70 price tag. The Doom games are great games but it's not like they are in my top 5 favorite games or anything like that. I'll wait for a sale.
And every single time they do something like this to appease him he just doubles down the next time. They already cut funding, didn't they? And it's not like he specifically said to remove. The only thing obeying in advance accomplishes is showing him that you won't fight back and that he can keep fucking you over.
I didn't even buy Borderlands 3 for $60 and there's no way in hell I'd pay $80 for something similar. I spent the full price of Baldur's Gate 3 for myself and two of my friends for a total of $180. Make the game worth it and you have my money. If the development cost of games has gone up then prove it and make better games.
I literally said it was a good thing in my comment and I'm glad that governments are starting to call it out. But last time I checked people are still dying so it's not like it's suddenly over just because governments started doing the equivalent of a strongly worded letter. When people stop needlessly dying that's when I'll celebrate.
