  • Erotic pizza talk aside, look up recipes for making pizza in a cast iron skillet. Some of the best pizza you'll ever have and it takes very little effort once you get the motions down. Treat yo self!

  • Some say it was a fault, I say it was my sweet and spicy pleasure.

  • Washington post confirms video with Geo-location

  • From the Washington Post:

The Order of St. George, an associated order of the church, issued a statement confirming the strike. “Archbishop Alexios appears to have been located and is alive, but we don’t know if he is injured,” the Order of St. George stated. The blast hit “two church halls where the refugees, including children and babies, were sleeping.”

  • This ain't your fathers pizza coitus, jack! EXTREME!!!

  • Obligatory pizza related chime in. You fuck with jalapenos on that sexy pineapple pizza?

  • The fact that you know this down to the episode is amazing. You sir are a true wonk.

  • Probably if the cost includes materials, his work looks good, and the labor is warrantied for at least a year. I'd probably opt to try to change out the wood on that frame in general though. You might want to see what your dealing with behind that wood, as it already looks like repairs have been attempted, and you want to make sure that this stops any issues back there more than superficially. If you go with the initial plan, make sure that the materials being used are of stronger quality/longer lifetime and rated for outdoor application. Get the warranty in writing somewhere if its not included on the invoice.

  • Too long of an answer:

So that is hard for me to pinpoint, just because there's close to 900 episodes now and I think I started listening in like 2019ish? The show started in 2017 and I remember after I listened for a few weeks I decided to start from the beginning and was surprised by how different the feeling of their approach was. I would say by 2019 they we're much less willing to write off gross stuff and were more concerned with Alex providing cover for extremist patriot guests. Post election and J6 they are pretty on the nose about calling out what they perceive as Alex's more deep seeded motives. With the final form of just general disgust and every info wars episode being a new low probably arising around the 2022 sandy hook defamation trial in Texas. Maybe a little before that. I'd say that the change in perception very much follows the arch and evolution of not only Alex, but much of the country letting the mask slip. So yeah, I'd say it's gradual.

As I recall the show was always a mixture of both current info wars episodes and past ones that Dan found interesting or silly. Sometimes what they covered would be dictated by how interesting (or not) the current info wars episodes were and then over the last maybe 2 years they would go to older episodes when Alex was in "time out." Which is basically when hes on such a horrible rip of racist, xenophobic, homophobic, incendiary garbage that Dan doesn't want to listen or give it air on their show. More recently though they cover that stuff when it comes out. So I'd say he's put mental health aside and feels more of a need to document some of these things to the audience. It's really horrible stuff and you can see pieces of the through line that led this guys mental state and the murders.

Alex's shtick of being "beyond the left right paradigm" and masquerading around as some libertarian with secret truths probably mostly ended around 2019-2020 where he got increasingly dependent upon drawing in more audience solely do to his support of Trump. He also has Stuart Rhodes, Roger Stone and Michael Flynn on a bunch in that time frame. So tying those worlds together was very lucrative for him with the level of access he was getting to people Trump was pardoning and putting reliance on. I think that's the best way to look at his increasing influence and role from 2016 on. It always mirrors where the right is going because he wants a cut of the cultist grift and then will amplify deceptions to create new market space and solidify his position as someone with secret knowledge. This ebb and flow cycle creates a feedback loop and this guy who is just making up shit to sell garbage supplements is eventually selling insurrection. Recently it shows itself even more clearly. Alex goes on 5 minute tantrums saying REAL gross stuff, and it's just him trying to get a racist or homophobic clip to go viral out of desperation for money.

Go listen to the Project Camelot episodes about space raptors if you want some more zany fun stuff. It's also absolutely worth listening to their episodes covering the Sandy Hook cases (especially the ones called formulaic objections) and the debriefs they do with Mark Bankston (who is the prosecuting attorney and a listener.) It gives excellent perspective to hear Alex in front of a court and how he turns on and off without control.

  • It's funny because at the beginning of that show Dan does think Alex is just some kind of a grandstanding/ridiculous pill, gold and water filter huckster. He was listening and watching ironically, largely for cheap laughs, and as kind of a game to peel back the layers of the "turn the frogs gay" onion.

It took a decent amount of time for them to get a handle on how awful he truly was, but more importantly, the intent. When you look at it through the lens of the current episodes you can see that the beliefs were always there but that there was way more effort to maintain the mask and disguise the true sources. Pretty much like you said.

Part of what makes the show interesting, in hindsight, is how long he was given the benefit of the doubt. And I say that as more of a testament to who Dan and Jordan are and the difference of the times from then and now. His fascination morphs into disgust and the novelty becomes more of an accidental chronicle of right white radicalization. I wonder who Alex will say was really behind this.

  • When life gives you especially cute doggos, you keep them good floofers. That dogs looking at you, asking with their eyes "you're seeing this right? This is all the time for me. If I take a nap I will dies."

So much stress in that poor adorable face.

  • I like this comment, but don't love it... I give it a 1/10000th of a 9/11.

  • Explain how this scores points with/ whats your definition of a tankie?

  • You've got the times wrong.
    From The Guardian:

The hospital was hit at about 7.30pm local time.

The Camera in bottom right is facing South against the coast, looking Toward Gaza, with the town Ashkelon that sits between likely being the source of lights center frame
Camera in upper panel appears to be facing back toward Ashdod

    • 19:27:36 Gaza camera cuts out, possibly for battery replacement? I think thats what the beeping sound might be.
    • 19:28:00 Ashdod camera catches what looks to be 5 rocket plumes appearing from Ashkelon
    • 19:28:43 Possible unifying event - Gaza camera sees 5 launches in upper left frame while Ashod camera shows 5 launches heading toward Gaza. I imagine these to maybe be iron dome interceptors but that's speculation

Things to mention: There is no footage from the Gaza camera during the first launch window. There is no clear defining moment that shows the explosion and while there's people speaking in Gaza frame I have no way to know if they are discussing that. There is a possible smoke plume and the Gaza camera pans to see it at 19:28:55. If this is indeed the hospital impact then the failed rocket is plausible.

Nothing here is conclusive but it does definitely show that there's a need for a full release of information from Israel of their warning systems/tracking info and a need for exact timelines on when the Hospital was hit. If you can find more stuff like this I'm happy to go through it or work together to better Geo-locate some of the objects in frame to help make a more complete picture.

Regardless feel pity for the people in that hospital. They did not deserve this.

  • Here is reporting from Check Your Fact that the video showing a failed Hamas rocket is from 2022 and has been circulating previously to this event

A video shared on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, allegedly shows a “failed rocket launch” from Hamas that purportedly caused the collapse of a Gaza hospital on Tuesday.

    Verdict: False

The video is miscaptioned. It was actually taken in 2022 and is entirely unrelated to the recent attack on a hospital in Gaza.

    Fact Check:

At least 500 people are estimated to have been killed from an explosion on the al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in the Gaza Strip Oct. 17, with the cause of the explosion currently unknown, according to Reuters. Thousands of displaced people were sheltering there, and more victims are still being discovered in the rubble, CNN reports.

A video taken at night appears to show a rocket launch that soars into the air before turning sharply and falling on an urban area. “Another video showing a failed rocket launch from Hamas,” the caption reads.

The video was not taken recently, however. It was originally posted on X in August 2022.

Translated from Hebrew, the caption reads, “This is how it looks like a failed launch of the Islamic Jihad into the Gaza Strip.” At least 14 Palestinians were killed in August 2022 by Hamas-fired rockets that fell short, according to the Associated Press.

  • Here's something I can tell you that's not a hypothetical.

20 years ago I watched thousands burn, jump and get crushed to dust live on a classroom TV. Our leaders agreed that there would be retribution no matter the cost, and the ones who spoke out against it were called cowards. In retrospect, I think so much of the anger people felt was because with all our supposed power and might, in the back of their minds they couldn't feel safe anymore. These people whose identities had become so entwined with boastful national pride were ready for their glory to be restored with the suffering and death of others. It didn't matter who did the dying. We'd given ourselves to fear.

The world stood behind us and over years and then decades the body count climbed to a number nobody could know. We poisoned the land of the people we killed with depleted uranium in everything from tank shells to breaching charges and the rate of cancer deaths is still rising in those places. Do you know what America got back from its campaign of horrors?

    Nothing.

What exists in the wake of these "just" crimes is a world no safer than it was before. The war on terror likely made far more terrorists than it stopped and the freedoms we gave up never came back. The terrorists won. Their goal was to undermine our society and its status in the world. And they did just that with a handful of people.

Israel has already exacted it's blood cost. It's already doubled their number of dead. The world doesn't have the same sympathy for this thing anymore because so many know where it leads. If it doesn't bring itself back from the brink then it can only lead to more years and decades of killing. I know this ain't great to hear but when people are saying to level Gaza and it's people once and for all does that not ring in your ears like someone saying their extermination is the "solution?"

Knowing what I know now, yeah, Israel should have done just slightly more than nothing. You should have showed the world your pain and your attackers your humanity. If you truly wish for peace than what better time than when perhaps you could have had sympathy from some across that fence. Wars don't solve anything. They just get people killed. I know that advice or opinion seems impractical but there has to be a moment where some people demand an end to the violence. None of us know how big that group would have to be or what they could say to stop the killing but they could.

It only took a few hundred people 20 years ago to undermine the worlds remaining superpower. They couldn't until they did and the same goes for those who would demand peace. I'm not sure where you're from or what you've seen in life but I can tell you as I age this thought is only becoming clearer. We have a choice in these moments. I only wish that I could go back and put my voice with the cowards that knew these things back then.

The only offensive war worth fighting and the only war that can be won is for the hearts and minds of your enemies. Defensive wars are a different story but lets not mince words on the difference between an incursion, an invasion and an occupation.

This is the entirety of my perspective, so I've got really nothing to add. I truly have tried to give you a genuine answer here so take it or leave it but that's where I get off this conversation.

  • Crap, I wanna say yes, but you know he's gonna swing for the fences with the Boston accent and it might lessen the weight of the many Ben impressions. That might have to be the directors cut version.
