  • The key thing for the incoming fascist regime is that they don't have to dismantle or make a big show of taking away people's healthcare, they just have to do smaller things to allow it to "fail" and then blame [current demonized group].

This is what they have been doing to education for years, and people complain about the system and not the people behind its purposeful sabotage.

  • I don't have a wealth of gun knowledge, but I read at least one report right after the shooting naming the type of pistol and why suspect chose it (because it had a long barrel that worked as a suppressor without having to attach/buy one). It even stated that because of the obscurity of the pistol it would 1) narrow down the amount of people owning one 2) would likely be someone with a good knowledge of firearms and well thoughout plan.

  • And if it's a corporation killing people, their environment, or their way of life, then it's maybe a small fine already baked into their budget and a promise to "do better".

  • As with lots of topics, John Oliver does a great job explaining how something as "simple" as a company merger and moving the headquarters can begin to rot a company from the top down.

    John Oliver - Boeing

  • Did you sleep through his 1st administration? It was all about selling out the US for profit for him and his "friends", and trying to kill the people that live here while blaming minorities, and embracing hate groups as a personal militia.

This time around he ran on the platform of imprisoning political rivals, increasing hate against minorities/Jews/and "radical democrats", using the military to put down opposition/protests (he was a big fan of Tiananmen Square), taking away people's insurance, raising taxes while cutting taxes and regulation for the wealthy and crypto scammers and on and on. Just promising endless corruption, and people saw that and said "OK" and voted him in.

  • But not enough to allow Socialism to destroy our country! That's why we elected a fascist to deal with this issue, Trump has the "concepts of a plan"!

  • Cool, let's make NASA even more about capitalism instead of science, what could go wrong? And surely we won't see NASA funding funneled off to SpaceX through shady contracts either. Ugh.

  • Why do the work for a for profit corp instead of just making a Mastodon server? I also wish we had a different term for these for-profit leeches that want to vacuum up free fediverse content for profit. I may be in the minority, but they are not Fediverse in my eyes. And we should not be working on ways to incorporate them, but on ways to block them off completely, and quarantine them to their own little islands in cyberspace.

  • An Australian Senate committee signed off on the legislation late Tuesday but said social media platforms should find “alternative methods for assuring age” rather than forcing users to submit personal information such as their passports or other digital identification.

Like? You think letting these same companies you see as a threat to kids to come up with their own verification method is a good plan? LOL

    Edit - lost words somehow

  • His new "lending" crypto scam is close, World Liberty Financial. He just got 30 million from a China-born "entrepreneur" that I'm sure will not be a conflict of interest. This scam apparently uses WFL tokens they are letting people pre-purchase before they even explain how the scam works lol.

  • Why do we have paperwork for something this important that relies on the new admin doing the right thing instead of a policy with actual consequences? Why does getting a job at many businesses have a higher bar (drug tests/background check/references/etc.) than head of the National Intelligence, or even the President of the United States?!

  • This guy loves the taste of the corporate boot on his neck JFC. Who will think of the poor mega corporations! Assholes like this are fueling the rollback of worker rights under the guise of being some worker white knight, meanwhile he spreads propaganda like this:

“This unfairly burdens teams, wastes company resources, blocks jobs for others, and limits humanity’s progress. It has to stop.”

This is what is limiting humanity's progress? Not the mega corps that can deceive workers, and destroy people's lives, destroy the environment, and suck the life from everything in the name of profit, and if caught get a wrist slap already built into their margins?

  • Hard to control artificial prices if you "drill baby drill YOLO" as a policy, unless the government subsidizes the difference so shareholders/Wall Street can still maximize profits.

    OR

We deregulate them (even more) and let them loose on the country unburdened by rules and safety (again even less than are already relaxed rules).

  • The important part of this is Trump launching his new crypto "lending" platform they can't explain. It's surely to be a vessel for bribes to flow into and out of the new administration, and for all his "friends" to try and do all their shady business dealings. Allowing him to keep his new platform/fake-crypto-bank (or even his kids to proxy) while also being able to have it regulated (well apparently deregulated - although it's already the wild west) seems like a HUGE conflict of interest/liability.

  • This would be the State Media, like RT is for Russia, only they aren't even smart enough to pretend.

  • Likely not, but what other choice is there? The best bet at this time is to hope we can wrestle the presidency back from Trump in 2028, and in January 2029 if he has enough mental awareness to legally stand trial then the DOJ can recharge and try him.

  • Yeah, sounds like the more mature Plex backend might just be better for your use case. But just because I'm curious are you running Jellyfin as an app or in docker? And is your Synology Intel based or AMD, as the latter will only do software transcoding and probably easily overwhelm a NAS CPU.

  • I think we also got a taste of this with the Tea Party movement on the Right. They wanted to break everything and cared very little about actually governing. It's about hurting people and sowing bad faith discourse.
