  • Have you tried PeaZip? It’s algo very good. It’s what I use on MacOS.

  • You sure about that? I’ve decompressed huge files, some time ago, using a 3.5” HDD and if it were like that, it would take much longer than needed because of that overlay you talk about.

And it took the same time as WinRar (͡•_ ͡• )

  • Since most comments seem like typical Reddit crap, saying to uninstall Facebook(I know they are supposed to be jokes, but let’s be real, they are not even funny) ¯(ツ)

The best solution I’ve found so far for that issue is the application Friendly.

You can hide posts based on Keywords, in this case just add the word Sponsored to it. Just pay special attention that if you use FB with another language you have to use your local word, instead of Sponsored (eg: Patrocinado).

  • This is a great update. You managed to fix the strike through, and the Jump button was something I missed so much from Apollo.

I think the only feature I still miss, is the one to share replies as pictures (but I’m not even sure if it’s possible within the PWA, maybe it’s a native only feature).

Congratulations, I barely miss Apollo nowadays 😅

  • I see, thanks for taking that into account. I understand the spoiler part is tricky because I usually type markdown without the GUI, but I’m not able to do it myself for the spoiler type (it seems it even uses the language or some strings to do it, because the : characters aren’t enough) 🤣

I’m not sure if the issue on your end is related to the spoiler being something like a collapsed span or something like that. How feasible would be if you were able to interpret everything between ::: ::: as spoiler and do it differently from Lemmy? (Maybe just hide the text).

But the strike through seems to me the typical markdown that I use on Obsidian, so it should be simple, I guess…

  • @aeharding@lemmy.world Are there any plans to improve the current markdown support?

Currently, it seems that strike through and ::: spoiler escondido spoiler text ::: aren’t working at all, on Voyager (didn’t test all of them).

  • I also use Vinegar, alongside SponsorBlock on Safari. Best combo there is 😎

  • Is that an Android thing? Because I don’t see a single entry of Safari’s history.

  • Hi @aeharding , is there a list with the differences (in place, not planned) between the native app and the PWA?

I’m not interested in the scroll to top by tapping on the top, kind of things, neither haptic feedback. What I was really looking forward is push notifications (which can be implemented in PWAs, since I’m using one in Safari which supports this 😎) and badges.

Either way, I can download it for the review purpose… Keep up with the good work.

  • Is this what Elon tells you, on the monthly meetings? 🤔

  • I have a different opinion: using the in-app browser sucks, especially on iOS. That’s the reason a lot of people have the Screen Time 24 -hour bug, it’s because iOS sometimes likes to keep that crap running and messes with the screen time results 🤷‍♂️

Hence the reason why I avoid in-app browser whenever possible!

  • On the consumer-side devices, are there any brands (specially on repairability) that you would recommend?

  • Ok I see. I’m already subscribed to a VPN service, and I do use Quad9 DNS servers on my router, so I don’t think that service would add a lot of benefits to me.

Also, even though I like Apple products, I tend to avoid their services…

  • Out of curiosity, why is Private relay so important for you?

  • What ads? Lemmy doesn’t have ads, unless you’re trying to say that they deliberately added ads, in order for you to pay to remove them.

When you don’t have a problem, you can always create it and then sell a solution to it.

  • I’m almost sure if the dev made something like: your username would have a different color in Voyager if you donated to GitHub, he would have a lot money by now (this is something that doesn’t even affect anyone).

Sometimes, it’s just a matter of getting a reward. The biggest one we can have is the app, but some people might not see it that way, because they take it for granted.

  • Sync for Reddit was my favorite Android app (before I jumped to iOS).

But as someone who loathes subscriptions, I would never use that app, especially when Lemmy doesn’t have ads, or subscription shit!

  • They didn’t became a trillion dollar company by luck. It’s because of fools like me who purchase their devices…

They’re lucky that my hate towards Google is bigger than Apple’s crappy decisions.

  • Because on a lot of countries (like mine), text messages (SMS), are paid or very limited. For example, I only have 2k per month. And remember that some texts, can count as 3 SMSs depending on the number of characters they have.

Since Android is the most used OS here, apps like WhatsApp and Messenger are the default ones. They could/should move Signal/Telegram, but that’s another subject.
