I get that many people don't like it and has left but I still haven't figured out why non-twitter users are urging the rest of us to leave the platform. What do you care? Really
He's the riches man on the planet only because he lucked out with the emerald mine and a couple investments?
I get you people don't like the guy but these comments can get a bit ridiculous. He has some quite obvious flaws but if he's not one of the most significant people of our time then I don't know who is.
As long as mute still gets their posts out of my feed it's all fine by me I guess. I can't figure out what's the downside here. I couldn't care less if the people I've muted can see my profile or not. Preventing individual users from accessing your profile is kind of petty to be honest.
I believe it should work with any adblocker that lets you set custom rules but since adblocking still works for me I haven't tried this myself. Saved it from reddit like 3 months ago so I hope it's still relevant
Yeah I don't personally use spotify for podcasts even though I have premium aswell. Except for the occasional JRE episode I listen everything else on Podcast Republic.
Not 100% sure on that one but according to chatGPT - yes
As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Twitter's verification process typically required users to provide some form of government-issued photo identification (ID) to verify their identity. This was part of their efforts to ensure that verified accounts are authentic and belong to the individuals or organizations they claim to be.
I'm not sure if this works anymore but I saved this message a while back. If you get this pop-up then put this into your adblock custom rules and it should sort it out:
When ever I see someone using YouTube without an adblocker it looks like some cheap chinese knock-off or something. As someone who sees less ads than 99% of people I've genuinely became a bit oversensitive to them. Podcasts are the only thing I keep paying attention to despite them having ads which even then I always skip over. Other than that every online platform I use is ad-free and I don't watch TV or listen to radio either.
I've had some really insightful conversations about free will on r/freewill and r/samharris. I also once met this one guy at work who was into a lot of the same things I'm too and we used to have really insteresting discussions about personal finances, investing and work philosophy for example.
I must say tho that recently the most interesting discussions by far has been with chatGPT. I only wish it was a bit more conversationalist and less agreeable. It's just really interesting talking to something that has such a vast knowledge of every topic I'm interested in and generally speaks from the facts instead of feelings.
This is the main reason I'm not that worried about bots on social media. If the discussion is interesting I don't really care who or what I'm talking to.
You could play me 10 random songs from my playlist and I could maybe name the artist of one of them. I'm so hipster even I don't know the bands I'm listening to.
These posts seem to always fail to mention that this only applies to accounts that want the verified tag. I'm just as uninterested in sending them a picture of my ID as the rest of you but it's not the most unreasonable thing to ask when you want a blue checkmark which by definition means that you are who you claim to be. Or atleast that's what it used to mean.
One thing I've started doing more than ever is blocking a ton of people. For example if I see someone making a post about twitter/elon/trump etc. I go to their profile and see if it's just one time occurance or a patter and in the latter case I block them. If I see someone posting fuck this and fuck that and I hope this person dies etc. I block them without even viewing their post history.
There's just so many users on a platform like this that I simply can't pay attention to everything so by blocking the people commenting in bad faith is the least I can do. Some might say I'm creating an echo chamber and maybe so but this really isn't about wether I agree with them or not but wether your comments bring any value to the conversations.
