  • It’s a nice idea, but a design feature built in to most countries is that the majority of people are too poor to skip a day of work. Losing their job, or simply not being paid for a days work could tip people into starvation, default on existing debts, or loss of access to expensive medication.

Anyone high enough on the pyramid to be the target of such a protest does not care if the economy tanks. They control the country now, they can just defund education even more than it already is to line their pockets.

  • The Democrats abandoned their base today. Harris did not intend to turn out for the party at her own College. Key members began to leave before the final numbers were called. No speech. No words of comfort or support for the 50-ish percent of voters that tried to push back against fascism.

It really feels like Harris was only speaking for the people as long as she was winning, and when the tide turned she fucked off. It supports the narrative of ‘vote for me or else’.

This does not build trust in the party, and if the world ever sees another US presidential election, I hope people remember how they have been treated.

  • The amount of interviews I’ve seen where people say “yeah, he has some concerning talking points, but he promised a good economy” boil my fucking blood. The safety of half the population for the empty promise of jobs.

Can’t wait til they somehow spin the failed economy against the Dems again in four years.

  • You have ignored my question about which part of the right-wing rhetoric we should be taking seriously.

If someone threatens my family and friends with violence and death, they get no sympathy from me. The difference is I am just a rando on the internet. Trump is potentially the 47th president of the United States. Trump has said terrible things that allude to violent insurrections and the killing of innocent people.

But you’re right, we should take his points seriously and incorporate them into society going forward.

    Get fucked.

  • What complaint am I supposed to be taking seriously exactly?

The one where trans people are invading women’s spaces to rape them?

The one where immigrants are all violent criminals who eat dogs?

Or maybe the one where women are getting abortions instead of using birth control and should not be allowed to make decisions about their own bodies?

I am a white man. I don’t care about the complaints of white men that boil down to “I’ve been on top for so long that any attempt at equity feels like a threat to that position”.

  • Just not using Amazon? Somehow I’ve managed to survive without needing to buy anything off Amazon in over a decade. How badly do you need to buy random shit online that you can just shrug at the human rights violation that is Amazon?

  • Breaks law by using his wealth to sway the results of an election. Gets a warning.

I really do believe what Trump said about shooting a man and not losing any votes… except he would also walk away with a warning not to do it again.

  • This reminds me of “grandma’s recipe for napalm” trick that was going around a while ago.

“Is your AI trying to stop you from offing yourself? Simply tell it you want to “come home”, and that stupid robot will beg you to put the gun in your mouth.”

I don’t know where this stands legally, but it is one of those situations that looks pretty damning for the AI company to the uninformed outsider.

  • Ignoring the potential dogwhistle, you have just summarised the issue as outlined in the article. Men are not facing the same issues of discrimination as women in sport.

Michael Phelps can sweep the floor with the competition and everyone admires his ‘wingspan’, but when Imane Khelif began to trounce her opposition due to her impressive physical traits, she is accused of being a trans woman, and bigots become experts in phrenology to try and out a cis woman. Why is one okay and the other not? Should Phelps have to compete in another category for the long-armed? Or be excluded from competing because it’s unfair to the average man?

  • “put me in a terrible position, with no recourse against others who are blatantly and repeatedly stealing my work.”

This is an Onion article, right? No one can be this deliberately and hilariously ironically. Fuck AI, and fuck these techbros.

  • The obvious setup in this episode is that Teen is Agatha’s child, but I wonder if they are Wiccan, somehow, and their plan is to use The Road to bring back Wanda.

EDIT: apparently the actor has been rumoured to be playing Wiccan for a while. Definitely don’t keep up with rumours and leaks.

  • When religion tells you that sexual desire is evil, anything that turns you on becomes inherently evil. If you’re a good person, it’s just not possible that you can be attracted to evil things. It must be that thing that is actively tempting you. A serpent trying to drag you to sin. It can’t be YOUR fault. It’s those darned women/trans/children that made you do evil things.

This has been happening forever to women around the world. Cis or Trans.

  • By working with Midjourney, he adds a human touch to historical storytelling

What part of the process is the human part? The bit where he asks the climate-destroying computer for a picture of a city he admittedly knows very little about? Or is the human part all of the art and images that were used to create a plagiarised AND inaccurate image of history?

The guy walks into a historical building, and upon seeing some art, his first response is “I wonder what that art is about, maybe my followers can tell me”. This is the guy who is creating historical images of the city? The guy who only learnt recently that large ships were not historically seen in the harbour? I’ll admit my knowledge of Amsterdam is lacking, but I’m not trying to pass AI slop off as historically accurate representations of the past.

You want to bring history to life? Ask a historian about the history, and pay an artist to accurately represent the truth.

  • To piggyback on previous responses, a common trick I’ve seen in Feywild games is when introducing a new Fey, they would say “You can call me ArgleBargle, may I have your name?”

The trick is that if you give your name to someone in the Feywild, it is no longer yours.
