  • The problem is that you're victim blaming. Imagine that Jews had done the exact same things Hamas has done to the Nazis. Would you be right to criticize the Jews for how they behaved towards their oppressors? No. Past a certain level we should not give one shit what lengths an oppressed class goes to to end their oppression. Short of literal genocide, Palestine will be the good guys here no matter what they do, because Israel is doing literal genocide to them.

The only successful slave revolt in history just happens to be the one where the slaves wantonly murdered their enslavers. It is a lot more moral to go to extreme lengths to ensure your oppressors are defeated, than it is to take the high road and lose. The high road is for cowards who would rather do what is easy than do what is necessary.

  • Making Trump speaker would be a major national security risk to Biden and Harris. Gives way too many lunatics big ideas is there's a direct benefit to their movement. Not to mention it WAYYY to closely mirrors the arc of Hitlers rise. Failed coup attempt, followed by taking on a secondary post a few years later.

  • We should do that with pilots if we aren't. Not letting you be in a highly important position is not discrimination. There is a real concern over capability to do the job. Being a senator and flying a plane are not rights.

  • Literally none of that is true. If it is, provide a source. Who has China gone to full scale war with for their oil? Genocide was made up by a far right grifter named Adrian zenz. You've fallen hardcore American propaganda bro.

  • Yeah, by physically I meant more along the lines of "isn't probably going to have a heart attack tomorrow". And we need to be assuming incapability after a certain age, until proven otherwise. When a senator turns 75 or 80, they should be automatically retired unless they choose to prove their capability, with public oversight of the test results.

  • I have no interest in bashing old people, but I will literally believe it when I see it. There is truth to the fact that old people die, quite often. If someone can prove they're mentally and physically fit at age 90,more power to them. But if they can't pass a test that proves they are able, they shouldnt be allowed in the Senate. Its not rude to assume the thing that's almost always true about a group is true for an individual in that group.

  • Right, that would make a lot of sense to do about the country that's openly hostile to you. Oh, China has territory disputes with neighbors? The US will literally fucking bomb you to nothing for your oil, and/or stage a false flag coup to overthrow your government if they won't sell them oil. We have also used corporate espionage to rewrite the laws of several South American countries into ineffectiveness, for the benefit of a fruit company. The two are not remotely comparable on foreign policy.

  • Of course everyone has had bad moments. They are part of the truth though, and should be spoken of publically where appropriate. Judge people by their entire life, not only by the good parts. We as a society were not brave enough to demand she step down 3 years ago, but we can at least do her the courtesy of not lying anymore now that she's dead.

  • I feel like any lower than absolutely necessary is a problem, because of how important gaining power within the Senate is. Its uncommon to become a senator before age 50 (currently 10 are under 50), and it can take 2-3 terms before you get to be head of committees. I think you could make the hard limit 75 to run, with anyone over 70 subject to some sort of yearly test both physical and mental, the results of which are public. 75 because they'll still retire at age 80 that way. As long as they can prove competency, we should let the most experienced people take the reins.

  • If you aren't a POS, you have nothing to worry about. Its impolite to say it when she's alive at 90, its impolite now, when are we supposed to call her out for terrible behavior exactly?
