Here's something that is interesting though: In looking it up myself, I discovered that Billion and Trillion are not universal terms, and while in America 1 billion has 9 zeros, in the UK/ parts of EU, it has 12, and from there the number of zeros increases by 6 rather than 3. So 1 trillion in America has 12 zeros, but in Europe it has 18!
Russia isnt doing a genocide, they're just Fighting a war over land. You can tell by the fact that Putin speaks about Crimeans as if they're equivalent to Russians, while Israel has made it clear they consider all Palestinians to be animals.
Well, the citizens they killed were literally firing on them and killed around 150 soldiers. Meanwhile the military for the most part did not have guns. Not saying it is justified even then to use military force on striking workers, but a hell of a lot more justified than western media claims. Oh yeah, and literally no college students died that day, as well as nobody within a mile of Tianenmen Square.
Right, they were trying to not die. That is what everybody will do in this scenario. That's the kind of thing that happens when you murder somebody, the victim is generally opposed to your plan, and so they typically do not do as you wish. An execution that plans to have the victim of it go along with the plan is simply idiotic.
Seems like a pretty small price to pay to prevent murder. In fact, I'd go so far as to say you're a bad person if you're not willing to pay that price.
What if you're right though? Isn't then a perfectly good time to lie? If you know for sure that the death penalty is evil (which doesn't seem too big a leap given the facts), then it's wrong not to lie to people to get them to stop it. Otherwise you'd be saying that your own morality outweighs the humanity of others. If it results in no death penalty, it was a good action. People act like the ends aren't justifying the means in 99.99% of cases. It is notable specifically when the ends do not justify the means. If the ends are preventing murder, and the means is lying, there is no question whether lying is justified.
All wars are not genocide, but this one clearly is. Israel directly controls the number of calories going into gaza, with the goal of starvation. They have blown up every single hospital in Gaza, and prevent them leaving Gaza for treatment. They refer to them as beasts, and openly stated they want to kill every single one of them. THAT ain't no regular ass war.
I would certainly call your example genocide, assuming America went about it the usual way. Netanyahu wants Palestine to be Israel, nothing all that complicated.
One does not in any way have to recognize the geopolitical lens people view Israel through. There are lenses that present it as a genocidal state, and there are lies. It's a classic "Id agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong".
Where that lens starts to matter is in our reaction to Americans who are not enlightened. Certainly merely repeating the propaganda you heard on the news doesn't make you pro genocide, but we still have to demand Americans think critically about it. Because the fact is, it IS a genocide, and as Americans we bear significant fault for it collectively.
There is nothing we can do to make Biden stop supporting genocide other than vote him out. Yeah trump might also do it, but he didn't the first time. And certainly the guy who might is better than the guy who definitely will.
They are very different, and if this was just a war I wouldn't care. Israel is the aggressor in this, the idea that this has to do with the defense of Israel is a vicious lie intended to justify genocide. Theoretical people do not matter compared to real people. The foreign policy decision for anybody that isnt genocidalis trivially easy: stop doing a genocide.
I am perfectly fine with my country doing nothing more than providing military support only as requested by the rest of the UN, and otherwise doing nothing. Ideally that would be America's role in every armed conflict. The reason they're even able to do a genocide is having American backup and weapons. End that and the genocide is over. Iran could flatten Israel in a day if Israel didn't have the threat of the US military behind them.
There is no other issue. America is helping to commit a genocide. Tax rates, or hell even attempted coups, mean nothing in comparison.
