  • I imagine a video content platform (movies, series, short form, etc) that generates the content as you watch it, and adjusts in real time based on your engagement, with optional prompting. Like I could start out by prompting it with "a show like The Office, but if it were directed by Tim Robinson; prioritize my laughter" and it takes it from there, adjusting as it goes to include more of what makes me laugh.

This would of course have to be run locally. I'd never sign up for something this invasive if it were connected to the internet at all

  • Oof.

A friend of mine broke up with their partner, and was having a hard time not feeling like a terrible person bc their now ex was expressing a lot of sadness and fear, practically grovelling. To make it easier on my friend, I manipulated the ex into feeling angry instead; this allowed my friend to feel justified in going no-contact and not feeling guilty anymore.

  • Wow, these examples are so cool.

    Food Preferences:

    • developed aversion to meat after receiving a heart from a vegetarian donor.
    • experienced nausea after meals post-transplant from a donor with irregular eating habits.
    • developed a taste for green peppers and chicken nuggets, foods favored by her donor.

    Musical Preferences:

    • began enjoying loud music post-transplant.
    • developed a love for music after receiving a heart from a musician.
    • started appreciating classical music, previously disliked, after transplant.

    Sexual Preferences:

    • Male recipient of a heart from a lesbian artist experienced heightened desire toward women.
    • Lesbian recipient of a heterosexual woman's heart found attraction to men.

    Other Preferences and Aversions:

    • Landscape artist's heart recipient developed interest in art.
    • Dancer's heart recipient shifted color preferences to cooler tones.
    • Fear of water developed post-transplant from drowning victim.

    Memories:

    • describes sudden unusual tastes accompanied by thoughts about their donor's identity and life experiences.
    • feels tactile sensations corresponding to the impact of the car accident that killed their donor.
    • experiencing flashes of light and heat resembling the trauma suffered by their donor, who was shot in the face.
    • describes a vivid dream of reckless driving, mirroring the circumstances of their donor's fatal motorcycle accident.

Some recipients even experience dreams or memories aligning with their donor's identity, such as a woman envisioning a young man named Tim during a dream and later discovering her donor's name as Tim Lamirande

Unfortunately, though, I don't see any mention of how certain they were that the recipients didn't learn these things before experiencing them

  • Even as an american, I had to convert 0.01lb to grams to get a better grasp of its weight. It's 4.5g for anyone else curious

  • Do you genuinely believe that if you ask the average non-voter "did you want trump to win?" that they'll say "yes"?

  • I know they think it might generalize to other platforms, but there's little evidence to say so, and I doubt the percentage is nearly as bad on other platforms, especially Lemmy (which is the only social media I use, so the only thing relevant to me and many others here)

There's likely also a high percentage of people who form opinions about and comment on headlines without reading the content, but that's not what this paper measured

Edit: a more accurate headline would be

Facebook users probably won't read beyond this headline before sharing it, researchers say

  • A good chunk of those folks stayed home to say "we don't want any of this."

Arguing that that means they wanted trump is kinda like saying if you don't call the police after witnessing an old lady get robbed, it means you wanted her to get robbed. Maybe they just don't wanna participate in a fucked up system

  • Note: this does not necessarily apply if you're a cute femboy or twink. I still remember all of them

  • Remember America, this is what you wanted.

No it isn't. Would be cool if people would stop saying that. Only about 30% of Americans spoke up to say they wanted this

  • How bout living off of credit cards with no consideration for financial responsibility because money just feels made up at this point?

    Month 1-6:

  • You must be a roundearther. This post is for smart people, so you can just find your way out 😤

  • Terribly sorry to do this but, you got me thinking about stuff I'd forgotten and... >!^(I lost the game)!<
