Biden really needs to understand how unpopular he is. Not that he will, but I can dream.

Oh 1000% agree, having a discord for support is nice and all, but using it as a crutch in place of good documentation is a sin worthy of eternal damnation.

I've lost a lot of my rose tint for discord, right around the arbitration clause thing, but I can't deny that it's convenient. Chat, streaming to friends, popping up a new server for whatever project or group, VC for playing games together. There's platforms that do all of these things better, but few that do all of them decently well.

Of course, it's a privacy nightmare and I stick to IRC for anything I wouldn't feel comfortable having linked to my identity, but I wouldn't call people stupid for using it.

My theory is that they're trying to find the perfect mix of horny gamers shelling out for bits and subs while staying just within the bounds of what advertisers will allow.

Doesn't need to be super advanced AI to be used as a tool by irresponsible or malicious humans.

That's fine for looking up cat pictures or porn, but many people are searching for information contained in images, and that is a problem. What if you were looking for a graph, a map, a blueprint, etc.? How do you discern the real from the fake? What if you click through and the image seems to come from a legit source that is also generated?

For now, just like it was easy to identify AI art by the fucked up hands for a few months before that was mostly ironed out. AI really doesn't need to get that much "smarter" to start fooling people in their native tongue, it just needs to be able to string the right words together more often. And there's a few billion guinea pigs out there to test on.

People probably felt the same way Unity's relatively fair licensing terms, or D&D's license. They've rolled back now, but it's common for companies to push this sort of thing, roll back, and then slowly introduce the same thing.

The point is not to avoid Steam, but to keep an eye out for scummy moves because no entity operating for profit is immune to temptation. Be ready to abandon ship should the time come or you'll be the one left holding the bag.

I honestly love when our DM makes a roll and just says "... okay". Especially when it happens in response to a seemingly innocuous action.

So it goes with language, always evolving. It can be hard to keep up, but the kids are just having fun.

It feels so backwards, I see people admonishing the younger, more liberal generations for not having children while turning around and bragging that their wife only needed two weeks of maternity leave. Why want more children in the world if you dont want to actually take care of them?

I was listening to an 1956 episode of Suspense where I heard the quote "All my life, I've heard a man had to have something wrong with him to want to be a cop, but I didn't believe it until now."

I wouldn't say the show is strongly pro- or anti-cop, but it's an interesting sentiment to hear from that time regardless.

On a somewhat related note, there's also an episode about a store owner who is too eager for a break-in so he has a reason to shoot someone. Really surprised me to hear from a 50s show.

I feel for all the other responsible medical workers who are already dealing with the most ornary customers in the world. This nurse, if they were aware, and all complicit staff have fucked their colleagues over.

Depending on where you live, going below freezing, even down towards 0F (-18C), is common. I'd say things don't go into "too cold to go out" territory until the single digits for me.

I don't touch a jacket until 40, 50 is perfect.

As they say, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Why try to hack the door lock when you can exploit people's instincts to let them hold the door for you?

Be sure to preheat it before use! You can prep while it's preheating and it really cuts down on cook time.

One of my favorites is sweet potatoes and kielbasa. Cut up the sweet potato into 1/2 inch chunks, toss with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper (I also like thyme and a little rosemary, but that's up to you). Toss em in for 14 minutes at 400 or so, until they're fork tender and the sugar has started to caramelize on the outside.

While that's going on, slice the kielbasa into ~3 inch sections and slice each section in half length-wise. Fry in a bit of olive/vegetable oil until warmed through and crispy on the cut side. Combine and serve.

Might find it's not to your taste, but I find the sweet and salty combo to be a real winner.
