Yeah, I recently found a post there where a person wanted to modify a downloaded mesh. The first comment was telling them they would need years of experience to do it well. The OP responded that they had figured out a solution that they were happy with, to which someone told him that his results were shitty and then explained a way to do it better. When the OP got upset at this back to back dismissal, everyone unanimously decided they were an asshole.
Nothing you said disagrees with what I said. My comment was all about the impulse to abstain, not advocating abstention. My final sentence calls them both genocide supporters.
I think there's a perception of preaching to the choir here. A vanishingly small percentage of Lemmy users would ever vote for Trump, and Biden is just the default other option. You don't need to convince someone not to eat a turd, but if the other option is to just eat a smaller turd, it's fair to focus your efforts on getting people to opt out entirely.
FWIW, I will be voting, even though my vote is electorally useless, but I understand not wanting to cosign the actions of either septuagenarian genocide supporter.
I think most people on Lemmy would agree that private planes simply shouldn't exist, at least on a personal use level. I don't actually care at all where these rich bozos are going, but the ability to shame them for their method of travel outweighs any potential privacy concern. Airports are public places, airplanes (were) a matter of public record. If they truly want privacy, they should find an alternative means of conveyance. If they absolutely need to travel incognito, they could just charter a plane, for Pete's sake.
As an American, I can't help but wonder why you're so defensive of the US. It's like you're a shitty guy who just heard someone say they would pick the bear.
I want to point out a key distinction that you successfully made here. Individual Israelis have a right to defend themselves. I, personally, do not recognize the state of Israel nor its supposed right to self-defense.
I install it every time I reinstall Windows. It's not like the native music player is any better than this program that hasn't been updated in 10 years.
I tried to switch my primary search engine on Firefox to DDG yesterday when I heard the news. 3 searches later, I switched back. I don't like Google, but damned if I'm not used to it.
I'm not saying it was a good thing to do, but once you have that idea, it becomes an irresistible temptation. The 9/11 one, although I guess it might be true of the other one, too.
