  • This is true, but there are good reasons it's shaking out this way:

    • Lemmy.world has had some of the most open signups compared to other major instances
    • Discovery of communities across instances is a little harder, specifically natural discovery instead of directly searching
    • It is easier to just tell incoming users to sign on to the instance your community is hosted on because you know it's safe and they won't ever be locked out by defederation

I think the rise of more topic-specfiic instances like ttrpg.network will help spread the load out.

  • Ah, now it's really just like home.

  • Rise, my brothers

  • Meme Update: July 13th, 2023

    • Added spell description for Shillelagh between panels 2 and 3
    • Increased meme resolution by 100% to accommodate increased text
    • Removed Herobrine
    • Updated localization files
  • Note: Lemmy is fuckin awesome, I just hotfixed my own meme by subbing out the image for one with the spell description in. Cool shit

  • The game is 16 years old. But it also

I've been over this a lot, over the past few years, but in my opinion it just being old isn't an excuse for Valve to neglect it so, where an update that was announced in advance as something more than usual just ended up being 100% community-made content and about 2 seasonal updates stapled together. What I really want is one last weapon balance pass, some tweaks to default graphics settings to make it run a bit better for new players (something like mastercomfig already implements these settings for you if desired), an emptying of the shop of some of the most egregious instances of overcharging for items that cost vastly less on the community trade circuit - quality of life stuff.

  • Dunno where else to drop it, so I'll put it here: props to you for using this opportunity to finally "fix" the name from dndmemes to general rpgmemes. Lord knows that debate went on for years longer than it should've

  • My standard advice to anyone new or returning - check out mastercomfig if you're experiencing any performance issues or just want to squeeze out a bit better graphics from your setup. Thing's a godsend.

  • Funny time to ask, a seasonal update just came out and the game apparently broke its peak playercount numbers.

  • It probably works out about the same as buying a subscription for a game, which many do for lots of games. I still think it's egregious, but then again I own all Stellaris DLC, so...

  • Gotta be honest, as someone who's played the game for thousands of hours and gotten really into the community in the past... I'm whelmed.

  • Front left, because I'm left handed. My wallet and keys go in the front right pocket - I almost never use the back pockets unless I'm wearing cargo shorts and carrying a ton of stuff for some reason.

  • Most unpaid moderators across the entire Internet do so because they have a higher than average interest in the community and want to help keep it running well. You will find some who want to spin a narrative, and some who just want to see a number go up, and some that want to troll their community, and even a small amount who actually are paid shills - but all of these groups put together is but a tiny fraction of all moderators. They're just usually the most noticeable and so color your perception the most. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, shitty mod gets the public's attention.

  • Patrick's Parabox is a neat little puzzle game that became one of my favorites after I 100%ed it. It's a bit different from the games you've listed here - deceptively simple, 2D box pushing type of game, but has a level of mind bending through manipulation of space that I think rivals Baba is You in terms of "what the hell, I've just broken physics in a way that is internally consistent but that I didn't see coming".

  • RimWorld is al all time classic for me. When I boot it up nowadays it's with a gargantuan modlist, over 500+ by now, and I love that the game's core systems are good enough to support all these mods.

    • FPS games

I like FPS games with a longer TTK (time to kill) on average. Not so big on the more realistic ones. Team Fortress 2, Deep Rock Galactic (PvE but still), Overwatch 1, and recently Battlebit has broken a bit from the trend for me, but I'm enjoying it.

    • Strategy, 4X games

Love 4X (explore, expand, exploit, exterminate) games. Civilization 5/6 and Stellaris have taken up a lot of my time.

    • Roguelikes/lites

Love these, of many different genres. Slay the Spire, Monster Train, Across the Obelisk for card based ones, Enter the Gungeon is one of the few games I've totally 100%ed, Hades is a masterpiece, and I'm always looking around for new ones.

Those are the big genres I'm into. I branch out into other stuff often, but I'll always come back to these.

  • If you are going to keep trying to avoid the actual point I'm making by conveniently refusing to read or acknowledge the post I've linked, then there's nothing more to say.

  • Cute little thing, easily adapted with any number of additions or changes for different communities and instances - it's a good one!

I like to think they're named Lenny. Not Lemmy, that'd be too easy.
