Yes. The average temperature of the globe is higher, but global warming is not applied evenly and the chaos caused to global weather currents does actually cause some regions to get colder.

This is going to be painful for us as a species. I don't think it will render us extinct, but the weather will get significantly worse and we will probably see widespread coastal flooding in this century, which will lead to hundreds of millions of refugees. We still have plenty of time to prepare and to change course, but I fear that we will wait until a global crisis is on our doorstep before we make serious changes.

I remember earlier today the admin made an announcement post about defederating from burgitt.moe and purging their illicit material from the servers, in order to stay in compliance with Irish law. It's possible that's what the downtime is for, but I'm not sure.

Indeed, I think number 15 if I remember correctly. I hope that it's ok, it's my home instance and is where I was posting the majority of my account content.

I just checked DNS sales websites, vlemmy.net is still reserved apparently. The web page is still being served half-heartedly and if I let it load a long time the post feed still appears, so I think the server is experiencing some form of critical error.

I'm in the same boat. I've set up shop at lemm.ee just in case but I still like VLemmy and hope that it comes back online.
