For the best. Knowing that this hacking technique is a vulnerability with the Lemmy project as a whole, I think it's reasonable for instances to temporarily close while a fix is implemented.
Deeply unfortunate that something like this could happen, you always hope that code injection vulnerabilities are found before someone is hacked. With that in mind, this shows the importance of two security principles: always parse and clean user input and don't click links (including images) before checking where they are going to send you.

Hearing that, I wonder if they were using an IP address based system. That would cause real problems for people using a VPN, but it wouldn't surprise me.
Same here. I got booted from VLemmy when that instance mysteriously went down, and I decided to set up an account here having heard good things about the instance. So far so good, hopefully things get smoothed over soon.
I'm currently playing Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga, in part of nostalgia. The game I'm going to play next will probably be Celeste, I've heard a lot of good things about that game and I've owned it for a while.
Hopefully, something will come up soon about what happened to it. It's a definite shame that it dropped so quickly, it's been a really good instance up to this point.
It's no problem! I really like helping build new communities, and I was having a really good time participating on VLemmy. I'll continue participating using lemm.ee and continue enjoying the platform and community, but I really hope that VLemmy comes back because I was happy with what we were building there.
I'm also not sure what the difference is, but the desktop app does seem to be better about initial federation. Glad you were able to get your working cats, feel free to ask if you have any other questions
I was not on the Admin team, I did moderate the Chat community and I was active in Support but I wasn't technically an admin. I had applied to be an admin, as pyarra the day before yesterday put out a post asking for admin applications, but then the server died and I'm not sure what happened.
I also like the new name. I use Android so I've never used Apollo, but Voyager is definitely one of my favorite ways to use Lemmy right now, I like the gesture controls and how intuitive everything feels, and it gets better every update.
It's changing it's name to Voyager, if that helps. It now has registered and linked the domain vger.app and the actual renaming should happen sometime in the next few days.
Ah yes, it is a well known fact that if your girlfriend sees a picture of you both with her head higher, she will immediately break up with you. This is a normal human interaction that all people do.
Search !catswithjobs@lemmy.world. Make sure to include the exclamation mark. Give it about 30 seconds and search it again, and the community should appear, and now you can subscribe.
lemmyverse allows for you to search for any community in any instance, even ones that your instance hasn't federated with yet. You can then search the community link in your home instance and then subscribe to that community, which will cause your instance to federate with it from them on.
