I should clarify: the secret menu can still be navigated to and the options there set. But ads now appear regardless. I went back into the menu and verified the options hadn't changed (they hadn't). It's like Roku has gotten wind of the exploit and 'fixed' their OS to ignore those options.

I know this isn't purely TV-related, but there used to be a secret menu for Roku where you could disable home screen ads. That stopped working for me several months ago. So I recently bought an Onn box (which is basically Android TV, but had as very cluttered UI) and side-loaded one of the open source launchers onto it. It's been a much better experience than Roku, not least because there's are no more home screen ads.

Musk is such an insufferably man-child. The UK government should just restrict or ban Twitter. It's a shithole network that is hemorrhaging users. Blue Sky or Mastodon can pick up any of the surplus demand. And nothing of value would be lost if Twitter dies.

I'm not sure how much of a financial burden the staffing side will actually be. Trump's campaign has been going around the heartland for 2-3 years, gathering up the names of eager supporters who want to help him in any way possible.

I'm pretty sure if those volunteers are told they will a) be helping Dear Leader, b) be given unchecked powers to torment and intimidate Latinos/Latinas, they will leap at the opportunity. And they will probably happily pay for any accommodation and food out if their own pocket.

Putin only has to hang in there for 2 months. Surely the very first thing his compliant little asset will do when he sits down in the Oval Office will be to rescind the use of US weapons oin Russian territory. Then Vlad can continue his needless destruction of Ukraine unimpeded.
