  • Welcome to your first exposure to the NGO and political class constellation. You might notice that the letter itself is not just Palestinians, either, but includes, per their own statement, Arabs, "Progressive Democrats", and "Community Leqders". Notice how many are top-level leadership of various Dem-connected NGOs and how few seem to be average folks.

Dems have done the same thing when it comes to supporting cops against demands for racial justice re: policing. They gather a set of black " community leaders", I.e. business owners and heads of NGOs and party-associated orgs, and then say, "but actually we want more cops!" It is tokenizing.

But you have correctly identified its purpose: to get you to participate in the tokenization and have a green light for complicity in genocide. After all, Real Palestinians (TM) gave you permission, right?

  • Making peanut butter is super simple and very friendly to automation. Just add peanuts + salt and grind. If you grind with enough friction it will become liquid and you can just pour it into jars. Factory modifications to make it last longer or use byproducts are just changes to the inputs.

  • They are lying partisan hacks.

Biden slow-walked restaffing the NLRB and his admin has fucked labor power repeatedly, including cutting COVID benefits and protections and ramping up interest rates to create unemployment.

Oh, and he broke the rail strike.

  • I would recommend that anyone concerned with privacy either use a burner account or not answer these kinds of questions.

While statistically I'm sure there are many straight men here, doxxing and other forms of identification are enabled by combining different breadcrumbs of information.

  • The news media are for-profit. They are selling you entertainment masquerading as information. In this endeavor, they focus on two major things:

    1. Ratings, really just how they can make money through ad revenue.
    2. Branding and access. Every news media outlet projects an "angle" or "style" meant to be appealing to a subset of the "market".

What they are covering is party duopoly horse race politics. Others have said that one of the two parties winning is a foregone conclusion, but they have not considered their own participation in this "inevitability", nor how the media does its part to ensure it. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy, really just a means of control and self-disempowerment that is only maintained by political miseducation. And this is before we get to the misconception that political power and engagement is simply how you vote.

The horse race politics aspect serves both of news media's main interests. It gets ratings from the couch-dwelling partisans who get to feel like they are watching a battle between their good side and the other evil side. And often from a brand that confirms that they are the good side of good people. To do this most effectively they need access, they need entertaining figures representing the party duopoly. When they spend time on third parties they either slot it into this framework so that representatives of the duopoly can share their PR strategy against them or they are very short pieces for color (this is rare).

  • There's no "form a stable government" step in the US. A party with 30% of the vote can take the whole thing. The US government is already stable, it is owned by the capitalists and staffed by bureaucrats and Dem/GOP politicians. They compete to haggle over which ruling class strategy for profit maximization is best.

You are correct that there is a bargaining chip aspect, though. But that is a level of electoral calculus far beyond people that think political power is a trolley problem based on a meme.

  • It is not poor design. The system is working as intended. Unless you are a white male landowner you were never supposed to have a vote and slave states were supposed to be buffered against popular will, per this restriction.

  • We had a nice run where everyone was working together or are last tolerating each other, it was peaceful. But the US Russia and China are drifting further apart and becoming less reliant on each other, which sadly means it’s not going to be as peaceful going forward.

At which point was it "peaceful"? The US invaded 3 countries around then and bombed and couped many more. Millions were killed.

Also they are not going to tolerate each other as much China Russia already have their versions of Linux distorts just imagine there might be more differences in the future.

Yes this will eventually lead to forks due to the US forcing decoupling. It is a highly aggressive terrorist state.

  • This is already how papers operate they just normally rely on their hiring and firing power to craft an editorial board aligned with the owner so the owner can pay as much or little attention as they'd like to and still get an outcome favorable to them.

Bezos walking into the room and going, "do this instead" isn't even odd, my local newspaper had that same thing happen 8 years ago and nobody really cared. I mean, they wrote articles and said they cared, but subscriptions rose.

  • I am not a Democrat. At this point I’m closer to Independent because both parties have gone off the rails over that last decade. However I understand the importance of this election and I understand how our system works. Voting 3rd party does nothing but pull votes from Democrats.

"I'm not a Democrat but the thing that makes me mad and insult you is that you take votes away from the Democrats".

Sure, bud. Maybe you're not registered as one but that isn't meaningful regarding your political team sport logic.

It happens EVERY election. I’m sorry to burst your bubble but voting third party doesn’t give you the moral high ground. It just makes you an idiot because not only will your candidate not be elected but more often than not you enable Republicans to win elections based on how our voting system works.

You're just repeating yourself instead of acknowledging all the stuff I wrote in my previous comment.

  • I think it is unlikely that they are simply bad at PR and not trying to do damage control for something they would like to push anyways eventually. Why are they creating a proprietary element in the first place? Is the selling point of their product not that it is open source? They are making some changes.

...or they made an honest mistake and don't care to put it back on F-droid for reasons to which we are not privy.

An honest mistake of hosting their entire own repo and writing up documents for it? It isn't just off F-Droid, they are doing their own thing.

I bring up these counter-examples not as a way to point out where I'm right and you're wrong, but to point out that there are other candidate explanations, and it's not justified to infer that malfeasance is the only likely possibility.

Yes you are suggesting that people give them the benefit of the doubt. And I am saying that would be unreasonable given the facts.

I also understand why you would cynically think that Bitwarden might succumb to Capitalism—I too live in a late-stage-capitalism country—but that's not a forgone conclusion, and I say again that we don't need to be imagining villains when there's plenty of objectively real ones at which to point a finger alreadIy

Bitwarden has already succumbed to capitalism, it is a product by and for a for-profit company. It is, with few exceptions, just a question of when they will have a profitability crisis and need to find avenues by which to increase revenues or decrease costs. Sometimes that takes 15-20 years, sometimes it takes 3.

I have not followed their finances but I would be curious to know what they are doing at the moment. Could be seeking to get bought out, could be looking for new funding, could be working around the needs of a major client, could be something else.

As always, when a project is backed by a company we should approach it tentatively because while they will provide support for it for some time they will eventually be tempted to do something shady to increase profit. Or to just be profitable at all, which investors always want ASAP when interest rates are high. And then we will need to fork it and see if it is feasible without VC backing. To my knowledge the only other viable path for an open source company is to become an industry standard where the major monopolies decide to not fight about it and instead say, "it is fine as it is and won't be profitable but it is a useful thing to share costs on". Docker, Inc. is somewhere along that path, scraping together products at the periphery of the software while the industry monopolies more or less share the core project in its various compatible forms. And Docker similarly tried to ham-fistedly seek profit sources like when it tried a silly fee scheme for Dockerhub and created a small exodus that the monopolies ate up (e.g. GitHub).

  • I could very well be wrong about you, but I was led there by the evidence of your comments. Don't want to thought of as shill, then don't act like one.

Faced with a contradiction, did you decide to address it? Nah, just repeat yourself, that will work.

I hope that you someday have the courage of your convictions.

Eh. I don't usually involve myself with threads like this, so I am indeed much less experienced arguing them and finding good sources. It's certainly not my job.

Right you posted some bullshit and clearly did zero media criticism. Is this your way of acknowledging what I criticized? Do you see my point in my responses? What do you think about articles that just provide you a few quotes without rhyme or reason (except that supports a narrative implicitly), and then tell you the narrative to support? Do you think party-associated NGOs are representative of the people?

I helped turn out more Palestinians to act action from weeks ago than there are people on that last list.

Anyway, this was in response to you saying that the Palestinians 'generally' disregard Biden/Harris

The term I used was reject. They are very aware of the Biden-Harris regimes genocide of their people. They do not disregard the murderers of their families.

I think that is still questionable.

You obviously have zero familia with this topic. We both know you hastily Googled your three links. I wonder if you even read them. Instead of making guesses and believing them and then fighting poplee to defend, why don'tyou get involved with some local anti-genoxide groups? Or at least just be honest. Remember, you actually started this topic by saying most support Harris, which was clearly pulled out of your ass.

And even if the majority do, way over half the US is failing to vote for their own interests (because non-voting counts) so that unfortunately would not be too surprising.

The most defining aspect of US voters is that they routinely vote against their own interests. They are awash in a sea of propaganda and PR and false consciousness that scapegoats immigrants for problems created by CEOs and the economic system.

    Nice comeback.

You can't ask me to take what you said seriously.

You think my inability to know what you Really believe (as opposed to what you write) makes you not a shill? Sorry, I'm not able to follow that logic.

I think you don't know what a shill is. Look it up. It is not "someone that advocates for something". It is a person that pretends to believe or push something they don't so that they can push something else.

I am obviously sharing my opinions and honestly advocating consistently for my position. Comoare this to your evasiveness and doubling down in things you made up on the spot.

My team is not great on this count, but the other team (and yes there are only two this election) is so much worse that's it's not even funny.

There is no worse than genocide. And your team has been excellent at excusing and normalizing it, such as what you are doing right now in your attempt to attack me for rejecting your genocide. If Trump were in office I would probably see you in the street. Because Biden is in office, you are here defending it.

Trying to convince people to not vote for the only candidate that has a very slight chance of not supporting Israel as much really bothers me.

Yeah duh that is why you are lying about me. You have been scratched by the prospect that someone would doubt your lesser-evil-for-genocide position that has given you license to support these monsters and harass those who don't.

Your lesser evil logic is self-defeating and irrational. Given that you have spent so little time critically evaluating it, I expect you to adopt an anti-genocide stance until you are politically literate just like you would if your family was facing these crimes.

Never again means never again for anyone. It is happening now. Are you going to fight it or support it?

It's not ideal, but there is no better example I've seen of the perfect being the enemy of the good.

Genocide is not good. Do I need to explain this to you?

    Same

I don't lie. "I'm rubber you're glue" doesn't work when only one of us is acting like this.

  • I would say you have to be the stupidest person on earth to vote 3rd party but I know that Magidiots exist.

Yep just big dum-dums that won't support your genocider candidate. If only they were smart like you and supported 98% Hitler!

You do nothing but enable genocide by voting 3rd party. A Democrat loss in November GUARANTEES the genocide continues.

You know Dems are doing the genocide, right? And at the point where they have the most to fear from supporting it, they aren't even pandering.

    You're the baddies, bud.

The Republican Party is the party of Israel and they would bend over backwards to give them whatever is necessary to bring back Jesus Christ

The Democratic Party is also the party of Israel.

It's impressive that you're calling people names while writing polemic that obviously applies to "your team".
