  • But then the problem isn't with all plastics, it's with certain plastics, and around 70% of global plastic production are concentrated around commodity plastics, all of which are thermoplastic. The greatest degradation issue occurs with biodegradable plastics, which is perceived as a good thing for them, though even biodegradable PLA has toxicity concerns.

  • I personally would prefer us to accept that plastics aren’t really recyclable. It’s better to move towards renewable plastics

Err ... getting mixed signals ..

What you are describing is exposure. There are plenty of build with 100% recycled plastic, so not sure where you are getting that 30%. I think you are perhaps thinking of the marketing material of PLA filaments that sell themselves as particularly ecofriendly because they include recycled materials, while I'm talking about builds made entirely out of things like recycled water bottles, which are made out of PET. PLA is more susceptible to exposure to sunlight, heat, and moisture, so rather than using it to hold beverages at that point you might want to skip plastic entirely. PLA itself is not recycled that much, but it is more biodegradable.

  • Depends on what you consider degraded, the only reason it would stop being recyclable is if it became too contaminated with foreign substances or exposure, which applies to anything.

  • How is it difficult to recycle? The temperatures requires to do so are less than metal, the 3D printing communities has people that recycle them into filaments all the time. I don't think the problem is the plastic so much as it is how it is still treated as a disposable container and that neither companies nor governments pay for or provide reclamation means like recycling machines that pay for each bottle collected. In other words, the problem is more cultural than material.

  • It's about time, with the way things are going, the Vogon construction fleet can't arrive fast enough. Unfortunately, they must have realized this making their naturally bureaucratic nature delay correspondingly.

  • Convicted felon says convicted felon things about how he will be a flight risk. So this is what the US means when they say justice is blind.. Certainly blind enough to make not being a natural born citizen a disqualification but allowing a convicted criminal to qualify.. Totally not a personality cult that can't just put someone who's not a convicted felon forward..

  • The biggest problem with Scientology is that it speaks to our politicians pockets. It's definitely and sickeningly on its way to becoming Yet Another Religion, and it does so under the cover for legislation that still allows exceptions from the law for cults even when their "fair game" policy is well-documented. It speaks volumes about why certain religious regimes are allowed to do what they do.

Scientology targets the mental health industry because that's the target base of their most ardent supporters, they are built on targeting the mentally ill and telling them "no, this isn't an illness you suffer that will require time and effort to treat and will always weigh on you, it's that you are special and channeling all of these thetans, which is just another name for spirit that makes it sound less recycled" and it gets intentionally crazier as you get to the higher tiers, which requires considerable wealth, so that only the most mentally ill reach it or the most manipulative do so, with the relatively normal people on the bottom trained to win intense staredown contests to make them seem imposing for the PR when they are just empty inside and suffering from a cultural and economical form of sunk cost fallacy.

  • That government agencies are staying with them just makes them seem like jackasses that just care about the views by any means necessary. Anne Frank would be a nobody today, nothing but a banned account in today's social networks, a lot of the intentional disinformation, narrative shaping, and hidden incontestable moderation these social networks are getting away that can completely lock away your work from any access except their own should be prosecutable and have legal recourse.

  • At the very least, begin relocating or developing redundancies to federal agencies located in states likely to do so, specially Texas which has been made the host of too many key international federal agencies.

  • If it had been Netanyahu instead of Bush after 9-11, Iraq would probably still be a crater right now, this man is able to sell war and oppression like it's no one's business. It's a shame that the Middle East is such a circlejerk of nations competing to do the same.

  • I just hope Ukraine knows what it is doing, as it's calling the bluff of a nuclear power. I don't think Russia will nuke with anything big, but they might give the go ahead for small scale tactical nukes. Then again, Russia was already training for their use, so nothing lost and this means that if they use them, they might have to use it within their own territory and assume those repercussions. Best case, corruption has already disarmed any possibility of using them.

  • My definition of truth tries to be objective, not subjective to wanting to dismiss something because Corporate media pushes it.

  • I think it goes deeper than that, and that Reddit has only expanded the hidden moderation so that comments from certain users are seen over those of other users well beyond karma calculations, and that a significant part of the effort to do so is to promote the message they want or are paid for to promote. It's not a wanton sellout, but with certain topics and in certain subreddits, it's quite evident that they want to push and promote meme stock, crypto, and neozionist messaging, which look at that, has a close correlation to the interests of its CEO. This has pushed out comments and posts that promote it over sane discussions, which tends to erode into emotionally divisive drivel.

  • You don't need to authenticate yourself to access most of reddit's content. It is quite plausible to attempt to collect their content by anonymizing and disguising the collecting sessions good enough. The only thing it really does is make it harder to detect instances of reddit's hidden moderation, which may be the goal here if their intent is shape and promote discussions towards certain outcomes.

  • Both are true, so why do you seem to suggest they are mutually exclusive?

  • Because the play involved Jewish protagonists even though it had nothing to do with Israel or Palestine? That's the point.

Pro-Palestinian protests are justified, but when they do things like this or things like defacing the statue of Anne Frank, they are clearly being appropriated by those who say Zionism so they can avoid the antisemitism label.

  • I think it would be disingenuous to claim there aren't a lot of antisemites involved in Pro-Palestinian protests.
