  • I miss mine. Still have 10 laying around, just no reliable converters to use them on usb only hardware. (DasKeyboard boards are an acdeptable alternative though)

I wore down 1 spacebar cap in 10 y, but no issues what so ever apart from the wear on that 1 cap. (But I have a complete set spare caps as well ;) )

  • To bw honest, no clue, both my parents didn't have dirt floors and they were born in '43 and '48. Maybe my grandparents, but I can't check anymore, as all family members at my mother's side are dead, as well as the oldest ones at my father's side. (Including both my parents)

I guess dirt floors were for the very poor pre WW2 in the Netherlands.

  • This is the main reason I just include images as a link to my self hosted server. No uploads, just have the viewer collect it from my site.

  • IPtv here is subscription based. Biggest advantage for me would be a cheaper TV provider then the terrible one that comes with the ftth line.

  • Alas, nop. 60/70s issue, so even before our (or at least my) time. The 'earn cash now, clean up later' economy really took off in rthe 80s and 90s, but has it's start in the late 60s early 70s.

Unlimited growth in a limited environment... who ever though that such nonsense would work in economics when it has been proven it's impossible in all other fields.

  • Really not much to say. The window of the bedroom was open and the wall with the ATM in it was in a straight ling about 50m behind the house. The 1st thing I noticed about the attempt to steal cash from the ATM by blowing it up was when the police was at the door the next morning asking if I heard something. I slept trough it all. (and still I wake up when one of the cats is about to throw up)

  • I know, and from network, but I haven't put time into enabeling that. (and I have loads of < 1G SD cards that need to be used up anyway)

  • Depends. I used loads of 'known brand' micro SD cards and went trough them one per month. I ordered 2 KingSpec and 'Kunup' sticks, just to test. (june '20) Of each, 1 worked perfectly, 1 was not good enough for continuous use. The active Kingspec has been active for years now, but I use less then 20 GB of the 120 GB SSD. (Really need to clean up logs, OS shouldn't use more then 5G, data is on NAS) The ones that were not reliable enough for continuous use are still in use for transport.

It worked here and proved a lot cheaper then replacing the SD card every month. As they are Chineese 'unknown brand', ymmv hugely. (and don't buy something that will just fit, as trade GB isn't IT GB and Chineese GBs vary even more) It however is always a gamble to buy something from the other side of the world. (but hey, every 'known brand' is made in China anyway now, so we already are hugely locked into that country)

  • Thanks, especially the front door was a huge problem, lots of cold coming from there. Also the huge windows in the livingroom and kitchen on the 1st floor (ground floor is garage) were a huge advantage. Especially the gas bill went down a lot, not to much saving on electricity. The moment it starts to cool down, curtains close. (keeping the warmth in) Gas for heating costs loads more then the few cents extra for lighting.

  • Curtains are a lot easier, especially when you start with pre-fabricated ones that need to be sewn together for wider windows and made shorter.

    • Fit curtains
    • Get loads of needles and make the roughly to size
    • Cut the bottom so you have more then enough fabric to correct mistakes
    • Curse as you forgot that the fabric slides of the table while cutting (leaving you wiuth a few cm left in 1 corner)
    • Hang curtains again to see what you can salvage and correct
    • Decide the curtains in the kitchen won't reach the work top, just the bottom of the windows.
    • Sew everything together and hang the curtains
    • The slight tilt is 'by design' and be done with it. (They cover the windows and keep the cold out, that was the main goal)

Curtains are visible for only me and my wife, so great items to start with. (I won't touch clothing for a while, I know I'll mess it up)

    • Minminguard as ad blocker (used with Magisk and lsposed)
    • Titanium Backup for real backups.
  • Depends on the politician. Extremist politicians like Trump are a no-go. Those supporters can't be convinced as they already believe fairytales. I'd say have fun, you do you, I'm out. This is the biggest problem with 2 party systems, you only get to choose between bad options.

Here we have multiple parties (to many for some) and you can vote for a party with you agree most instead for the one you disagree least with. When somebody wants to vote for a party you don't agree with, you ask why, as we have (almost) no 1 issue parties and most party programs are pretty consistent on the usual issues and programs overlap a lot. When they say they vote for party x because of point 1, when not to extremist (immigration, killing off fossil dependencies no matter the costs, unlimited market,...) there will be at least 1 other party with the same view but less 'colleteral damage'.

On the other hand, extremist views, especially in a multi party environment are limited to a minority, so will never get to power. Other, valid, views are adapted by other parties, so people aren't limited to the extremist.

  • Walking the dog. I can't be bothered to exercise, but hate to have to clean up, so walking the dog is the best option.

  • Minor detail, the original pilot left it via the ejector seat...

  • NoScript, uBlock Origin and Dark mode. (But I prefer the experimental darkmode setting in Vivaldi) Those are essential to me.

Panorama view is close to essential, I wish I found a tab stack alternative that works with it. (Haven't looked yet, Vivaldi is my current main browser, until Fifefox can get tames in the same way)

  • I totally lived the cross-over episode of SNW and LD. Nicely done.

  • Why not go trough the complete Monty's enzyklo Pythonia?

Mony Puthon and teh Holy Grain is epic. Saw it at elementary school ages ago (early 80s) and was looking for iit for ages. (Not speaking English yet, Imtotally forgot the title) Still need to watch Jabberwocky.

When done, Black Adder's Christmas Carol is a belter as well. (The serie is nice as well, as id Red Dwarf)

I's add Idiocracy and Don't look up as well, but alas, both are documentaries by now. :(

For car fanatics, the Taxi series is nice as well.

  • Normal is, just like beauty, in the eye of the beholder....

Oh wait, that's truth, normal is what the majority accepts... we're domed, just don't look up.

  • My sewing machine. I (m) wanted curtains, my wife didn't want to sow them (no sewing machine didn't help).

Bought it last year (€270), made curtains troughout the house, monthly energy bill went from €630 to €230 a month due to savings on heating. (And I learned something new, always fun)

  • Was on twitter because 'it was hot'. I never discovered why, I found it even more annoying then open plan office spaces, lots of unwanted noice, no content. So I left and never looked for an alternative.

Since I left, never felt fomo, just yomo. Especialky with Musk taking over xitter I'm amazed not everybody went quitter.
