  • I really fucking hate the assholes that do shit like this. I know they've always existed, but it seems like every single issue they come up with was resolved decades ago. America is backsliding HARD and I have no intention of going down with it.

  • It's like choosing between constipation and diarrhea. Boob seems very full of herself and I won't be surprised if she suicides once finally booted from office. MTG is just a geyser of absurdity and likely far smarter than her act suggests. Both are unpleasant, but I'd take the diarrhea with the hope that it can't possibly last forever.

  • Somehow I find MTG more palatable than Boobert. Only in that I want her to be the victor in the celebrity deathmatch.

  • I live a couple hundred yards from a tower and recently returned from a two-week vacation. I had a 4g/LTE icon before I left. Now it says 5G, but my tests show the exact same speeds as before. I think you are correct.

  • There is some startup lag with that site. The whole VIP/freeleach/wedge system is a bit convoluted, but grabbing some popular free torrents and keeping them seeded will get you going in no time. It is easily the best community I've seen on a torrent site and those restrictions are probably a big reason why.

  • This is like challenging a duel with a gauntlet, Men In Tights style, damn.

  • AI is an existential threat to so many. I see it similarly to how an established worker may sabotage a talented up-and-comer to protect their position.

  • Only those that lack humility and/or fail to acknowledge privilege.

  • The slightest hint of financial superiority. Snobbery, if you will.

  • I would do my best Iago from Aladdin impression at how big a surprise this is but I just can't.

  • Having recently visited that hellscape, I cannot imagine the audacity of trying to grow a lawn there.

  • "That'll be $3,267"

  • One of my favorite sights when I visited Yosemite National Park was the payphone and huge, empty newspaper vending rack that were still present outside one of the lodges. Like walking back in time. People probably thought I was weird as I giggled to myself while taking photos. It's ok, I am!

  • As a society we place huge importance on reading and writing literacy yet forget that digital literacy is just as important. Having a cell phone is, like it or not, a pretty big part of being literate in this digital world. We don't see people acting proud of themselves for not being able to read (at least I hope not), and cell phones should be no different.

"I don't even have a smart phone" is the new "I don't even own a TV."

  • Not shown is the even bigger "Talking about Reddit on Lemmy" leviathan.

  • Boost is great, but I've had more success replicating the old.reddit experience using Sync; the compact/list view feels more "right" to me. I originally started using it because it was the closest analog to Alien Blue at the time, and I never saw a reason to switch. Damn, I used it for almost 10 years!

  • Oh, it would be a victory. But only until they try it again. And again, and again...

  • When I was around 8 years old, I lost a new issue of Nintendo Power in a Service Merchandise store. That may be the most aged statement I've ever made.

Anyway, this was a very distressing experience for me; my disappointment and loss of hope sticks with me to this day. I vividly remember dreaming about finding it some time after. However, in my dream I recall flipping through the pages only to find garbled nonsense, page after page.

This was actually more distressing to my confused, young mind. I don't even try to read in dreams anymore, but maybe I should; it would be a dead giveaway.

I still miss that issue. It was the Dr. Mario issue for anyone wondering.

  • I'm more of a Carl guy, but Lenny will do.

Seriously, I can see this becoming a full replacement if users continue to migrate. Once Sync for Lemmy is out I will definitely be using that for my bored moments. For now, patched Reddit Sync is still working, so I'm still using it while I can.

That said, Reddit feels dead to me. Browsing now is absolutely not the same as before. As far as I'm concerned they committed suicide.
