  • Seriously just swap the genders here. This is insane.

  • This is a great writeup on this, thanks for sharing. I’ll at least link my friends who are convinced this is happening so they won’t read it.

    1. Neurodivergent’s what?
  • You’re not wrong. Nobody has ever responded to a music recommendation with “what’s their website” before.

  • For me, it’s really just a lack of actual remorse or effort to fix things. As long as they’re willing to demonstrate they recognize what they did and will work to be better (and it’s not a recurring pattern), we’re cool.

  • We had a guy at the place I worked a few jobs ago who did nothing but slowly single-finger peck out regexes all day. His job title was “SEO Guru”.

  • Man, I miss this internet.

  • 100%. I’m trying to swear less just to avoid the punctuation-level swearing that feels childish to me. But replacement swear words that have the same sentiment feel even more childish and pointless to me.

  • We even have sea unicorns, land unicorns don’t seem too far fetched.

  • Thanks, I use them and didn’t know this was a feature. My favorite iOS cribbage app doesn’t offer a paid tier to remove the ads, and this took care of it.

  • Maybe not exactly this, but I recently read How To Break Up With Your Phone and really loved it. Short read, and even if you don’t follow the whole 30-day routine she outlines (I didn’t), it’s full of great prompts/thoughts on more responsibly looking at your consumption habits and I came away with several practices that have made a big difference for me.

  • Correct. If you do it now, there’s a notice about this feature going away.

  • My favorite Calibre thing was when the creator was interviewed and asked about the common complaint that Calibre is ugly and he was basically like “actually it’s not.

  • I’m slightly younger (born in 86) but went through a similar thought process a couple of years back. I remembered being an avid reader as a kid but could barely make it through a book or two a year, and struggled to maintain any form of attention span. I forced myself to read more for about the first month, then I got addicted to it again and ended up reading 42 books that year. I’m very conscious now about pretty much always having my devices in some form of focus mode/app time limits and prioritizing focus/reading time. I feel much better.
