  • Nah, fuck them. They thought they could get away with this predatory debt-trap system that was marketed at children and they are clearly salty that they got caught. Not to mention the whole idea of not even owning your own PC or the data within which would set a bad precedent for everyone everywhere.

There are so many competitors in the industry NZXT operates in; it would be very easy to avoid ever buying their stuff again. And I intend to do just that. Get bankrupted, you pieces of shit.

  • It hasn't been updated in ages, so maybe. It does still work well for now at least.

  • Not going to change unless Microsoft does a complete 180 on how they're handling Win11 which I don't think they will do because it's just not in their corporate strategy at the moment. I imagine most people are just going to keep using Win10 after the support period ends.

Microsoft seriously needs an upper management shakeup. They have been dropping the ball badly in numerous areas and have their heads lodged too far up their own asses to see it.

  • If you are using iOS then there is really only one place to get them- the App Store.

I've used both Memmy and Mlem and both are decent apps.

  • "We heard your concerns"

More like: "Oops, someone actually stopped to read our predatory contract."

  • And they are using paid influencers to promote said debt trap to those that don't know any better, particularly children.

Probably the most insidious part of this to me. Seeing those clips of "influencers" pushing the idea of convincing your parents to get you a rental PC. Disgusting.

  • Elite: Dangerous, Tiny Glade, BG3

  • I have a Deck and one thing I learned pretty quick is that some devs will mark their game as Steam Deck Verified when it damn well is not. There are some games that struggle to run on the Deck but still have the green check, so I feel claims like this are highly misleading. Also there are some games that have no compatibility information at all yet work great.

  • Thankfully there is a very simple, no-effort solution to this: Don't play their trash.

I already don't play their excruciatingly mediocre games and this just reinforces my avoidance is justified.

Also good gods they've been milking this tired franchise for almost 2 decades now.

  • Ah yes, those illegal migrants from Canada, the country that is notoriously difficult to enter. Must be heaps of those!

Hope Americans enjoy paying inflated prices for fuels, manufactured parts, beef, wheat, and grains because Canada is a large supplier of those to the US. Trade deals between Canada and the US are valued at around $1tril per year. I hope those that voted for Trump really feel like those increased prices make them feel like they're being put "first".

  • I have a 14 pro and thus still use Lightning, but I've had iffy USB-C connectors and plugs on various other devices. Potentially an upopular opinion, but I don't like USB-C much and find it doesn't have a very positive feeling connection. I've also had a couple USB-C plugs fail already.

  • He's actually doing his own thing for once instead of parroting whatever the US does. I'm impressed.

  • Maybe because it's extremely expensive and also, you know, literally poison.

I have seen more than enough lives around me get ruined by alcohol that I have zero interest in ever taking a sip of it.

  • From a user perspective: A tablet that folds up to the size of a phone. Or a phone that flips to the size of a compact little square.

From a business perspective: A phone with an extremely fragile screen that will require frequent replacement and a hinge that has limited life, ensuring customer retention and re-purchasing.

I do keep a loose eye on them, especially flips as I like the idea of a phone that can fold up really small for tiny pockets. Their unfathomable prices and durability issues put me off, though. I have seen foldables that have been kept past the usual 2-year contract window and... oof. They do not age gracefully. For the $1,800-$3,200CAD asking price that is unacceptable. Does not help that the only foldables with major retail presence here are from Samsung and Samsung's customer service and warranty support here is atrocious.

  • Same. I'm still pissed that 2020 was left in the state it is in with tons of its own bugs and missing features that were promised. I remember talking to a friend and saying that MSFS2020 was a cool flight sim but still had the vibe of an early-access game at times... and then they drop an announcement for 2024.

  • Turns out that a massive Earth-scale game that requires streaming of gigabytes worth of data every play session for each user and has next to no local storage is a really awful idea.

X-plane 12 is looking better and better.

  • I always did find it amusing that they are called the United States when it seems like it's constantly teetering on brink of another civil war.

  • I have to do a hard refresh every time I open Lemmy (any instance) to get logged back in. It started happening a few FIrefox updates ago.
