  • People can agree on things you know. Assuming I’m an alt shows that you’d rather engage in conspiratorial thinking to act like there’s some threat rather than a more benign assumption that two different people on this website could hold comparable opinions, especially after the news coming from Manipur.

  • Did I say that? I’m offering the other side as counterbalance. I also think that reporting on the violence in Manipur is a bit more important than talking about them investing in something several other countries have done (when this investment could be used to address rampant malnutrition in the country).

If this space program results in novel tech then I’d be a bit more into focusing on it but from my knowledge it hasn’t and comes across more as a PR program. A way to stick a good headline amongst all the horrific things happening there.

  • Probably because they’re a tankie actually. The kind of person whose ideology makes their perspective on America intensely hypocritical. It also incentives them to frame the situation disingenuously.

Obviously getting bombed and losing two full cities had nothing to do with their calculations of course, it could never be a complex situation with many angles. It was only because a country that spent tens of millions of lives fighting another front declared war. The nation that they recently trounced in their last encounter. Nothing to do with city erasing wmds.

Ps if you care about the worst casualties talk about the Tokyo firebombing. Blows the nuke death count out of the water but it wasn’t flashy so debate bros don’t care.

  • I get that we all think entertainment products should be free but in a capitalist economy server space costs money. To deliver and maintain petabytes of data takes vast resources and in our society, those resources cost money. They keep it running through direct payment or auctioning ad space. So if you don’t want to get premium then they still need to pay for the upkeep of the service you’re using for free. Thus ads.

  • I get that you have no experience trying to play this game skillfully and don’t really care about the concept of fair competition but I can promise you, the competitive players would still dunk on you with every mechanic turned on. Because without the gimmicks you actually have to learn the base mechanics to win which Carrie’s to any game mode.

They know more about the game then you so they know how abusable the item system can be and how obstructive stage hazards can get. They’re looking to compete, not just dick around with friends so of course they’d look for the most equal ground to see who’s better.

  • There’s a time for both tbh. If you want to just fuck around then items and stuff are a lot of fun. But if you’re playing from a competitive mindset many of these mechanics get in the way of the parts of the game they love the most. In fact, I think my experience playing without items made me more effective with them when I played with people that wanted them turned back on.

The important thing is that you play the rule set everyone playing will have fun with. That’s why the customization of rules has always been pretty in depth.

  • Arguing for treating the two as separate sounds like the sarcastic phrase “we need more diversity in our oppressors” or “more war criminals need to be from diverse backgrounds”.

Scapegoats are used to distract us from the root of the issue, which is artificially enforced inequality. Addressing that in a meaningful way involves itself creating a feeling of solidarity among all people in a community no matter who they are.

It’s not reductionist, it’s cutting to the heart of the issue in a way that inherently addresses the issues people are trying to manipulate to derail a real long term solution.

You will never eliminate these prejudices and scapegoats if you don’t put your effort towards the central unifying issue at the heart of this, inequality breeds resentment and scapegoats are easy to use valves to let off the pressure.

It’s a type of Gordian knot in my eyes that we should slice instead of trying to individually untie each knot to get to the center.

  • MLK was an outspoken socialist so I’m sure he’d actually agree that scapegoats like racism are propped up by the wealthy and used to prevent class discrimination from being properly addressed.

I’d love to hear how you think their position is moderate tbh. Because it looks like they’re advocating for a very progressive outcome.
