Yeah I don’t understand this mindset. It’d be like saying it shouldn’t be allowed for cars to have different versions with more features because they were developed together. DLC is supposed to be an additional feature like lane assist or something. You can get just the base version for cheaper or you can get a version with more features but you pay more. If the product sucks without the extra features than the problem is an incomplete product.

I get that we want to pay less and get more, but they can’t give away stuff for free.

It gives a timeframe so unless McConnell steps away very close to the next election, the governor would have to follow the law or not.

It says excluding Vatican City, which makes sense, but it just makes me want to know how bad the ratio is for there.

I doubt it’d be worth it to pursue. He could always argue he was changed at the time he said it but in between then and now, he changed his mind back.

Well “entertaining” is subjective. If these people weren’t entertaining, they wouldn’t have so many followers.

There are absolutely a ton of people out there taking advantage of certain people and manipulating them as opposed to actually being entertaining, but that’s not an “influencer” problem, that’s just a people problem. That happens in every industry with human interaction.

Plenty of influencers just post content they think their followers will like and use that following to make money as well. And a lot of the time, their followers actually enjoy the things they advertise.

And the great thing is if you don’t like the concept, you can just not follow them.

I dont think you’re thinking about this right. Stuff like DLC has never been funded from profits of a specific game, that’s not how company finances work. They may decide to create an expansion or extension of a product they weren’t planning if a product does better than expected, but a lot of time, it’s too late by then and you’ve missed the wave to capitalize on the success. Most things like this are planned pretty early on based on the projected success. The base game and the DLC might even have separate budgets.

And all that to say, the DLC shouldn’t factor into your evaluation of a game at all. If you would like the amount of content in the game if the DLC never existed, then they added enough. You aren’t owed more content because of when they developed it, that’s absurd thinking. And if it for some reason got coded into law, it wouldn’t make anyone add more content to the base game, they’d just wait until after the game is released to start developing it. Which would make for a worse experience for both the company and consumer.

I agree with the person you replied to: if a game feels incomplete, then that’s the problem. I’m not going to pay for an incomplete game, regardless if it has DLC or not. But if a game is complete and I enjoy it, I’ll pay for DLC to get more experience from it and it doesn’t matter to me when the DLC is developed.

Geez the pacing of the original is ridiculous. I could never sit through whole episodes of that lol. I might try out One Pace

It’s the same building, just edited. You can tell the bottom half of the center is exactly the same and the the near sections of the wings are pretty similar. They just swapped out the top part and changed the windows on the far sections of the wings.

Definitely, but I’d be willing to bet a good chunk of those 1000 episodes could be cut without losing much of the plot.

I’ve always been interested in One Piece but just can’t commit to that long of a show. I wonder if they plan to tell the story more succinctly (which might be difficult since my understanding is the story isn’t finished yet). If they do, I might check this out

Finally scheduled the two root canals I need. I get pretty bad anxiety talking on the phone, especially to strangers so doctor’s appointments are always hard. But I finally did it so I’ll be done with this pain soon.

I don’t know about this case, but in the past, the candidate had purchased a block of rights from a record company so they had the rights to use it but something about the way those contracts work allows the original artist to forbid them from using it even after purchasing. I’m not an expert by any means though.

I think this is a great move until we have something rock solid to prevent this. There are tons of image hosting sites you can use (most of which have the resources to already try to prevent this stuff) so it shouldn’t really cause much inconvenience.

I use the Hide Read Posts feature through the app I use (Memmy) because the feature through Lemmy itself is really bad. It caused all sorts of issues for me, including the ones you listed.
