  • This is mostly true for the entire US. But not just Texmex, there are a lot of variations. Like the Chipotle burritos that started in San Fransisco.

And not just Mexican food, most food is altered somewhat for the US tastes. That orange chicken at the Chinese restaurant was invented in the us.

I have found what I believe are authentic Mexican restaurants. But we were the only non-Mexicans there and they were cooking dishes like whole fried fish.

  • It’s algorithmic to get you to pay more. The price will go up during high demand. Their “sales” are often more than the normal price. Then the price will go back down when demand falls. It works (for Amazon).

  • This will only push Apples stock down. Every big company with market power will move their app off the App Store to stop paying apple a cut and not have to follow their rules (like easy subscription cancelations).

  • It was eye opening the first time we flew to Europe. The first convenience store sold few sodas, mostly different types of water. And the soda they did sell was more expensive.

We tried an orange soda. It was less sweet and tasted far better.

  • Trickle down is a political term. Economists know that wealth trickles up. It is only moved back down with taxes. Non-economists have a saying for this, “the rich get richer”. Economists have a formula for this: r > g

  • In the US we are seeing a lot of cheap products that are supposedly USB-C. Like the flashlight I got for Christmas. But they will only charge with a USB-A to USB-C cable. They are basically USB-A chargers with a different shaped plug. They will not charge with a real USB-C cable. Is this also true in the EU?

  • But this law is going to make changing when a better standard should take over difficult. Imagine if this was passed 5 years ago when the terrible one sided USB was common. The only group that will have the power in the future to update it is the USB group, and that is a group of manufacturers that have a driving goal of absolute cheapness at heart, not innovation. This is a terrible law.

  • I am not saying those are the correct rates. As a floor they probably should be low. Rates should vary by area anyway. Perhaps as a percentage of median apartment or home rent?

But here in rural America I have seen plenty of jobs that require degrees that pay less than that.
