  • If you want to live in a stupid little farm like it's 1899, then do it. And stop complaining that the internet is slow or nonexistent, the cellular phones are weak signalled, the roads aren't plowed, mail doesn't get delivered, your well runs dry and your shit box fills up in the yard. You chose to do this. Live with your consequences and F off.

  • I like the plastic and don't think it's going to change in the US or Canada anytime soon. There's a fundamental difference in package deliveries in the US, a carrier or Amazon delivers the package to your doorstep and leaves it outside. Rain, sleet, snow, and porch pirates.

In most of the world, it is delivered inside to reception or handed personally to someone at your house or the next house with a slip. Cardboard is fine. At one of my places like this, it's absurd to them to leave the package at my doorstep when I'm not there. But I have finally trained all the local companies to do so. And they all think I'm crazy. So the local drivers will WhatsApp me a picture of the delivery or call 7 times to make sure I'm not an idiot before leaving the package.

  • Biden does, for the most part, what he says he's going to do. He was raised in the age of Israel is a golden child that can do no wrong, never let anything hurt em. And that's what he does. As they genocide an entire nation, the US funds it and says "we don't see anything wrong with this" with a straight face. They either believe the world and American voters are actual idiots, or they have no respect the world and American voters. No other option. You know what you're going to get with Biden, more of this until there's nothing more to discuss. Talking about the Native American tribes sort of went out the window when the US killed them all and sent them to Oklahoma to die. Negotiating land and rights treaties didn't really matter. Same here. It won't really matter when all the Palestinians are dead. That's when Israel wants to discuss it.

Trump... He is owned. He will be the strongest supporter of whoever gives him more money that week. Which means something could happen as long as someone has deep pockets. And if not, he'll do the same thing as Biden does... Until the country implodes. And then the 2 sides can go their separate ways. Realistically, I see 8 or 10 little broken pieces in an EU style. That way the PR can say there was no fracture. But in all reality the laws and lifestyle will be completely different in the People's Christian Republic of Texas versus New York City.

  • Exactly and I can't figure out if people are just too stupid or too entrenched in propaganda. Of course there will be news of it being a "mistake". Or 3 mistakes. And nothing will change. Resolutions will be passed. Statements will be issued. Thoughts and prayers. Nothing will change for Israel, the US will continue supplying death machines to these evil people. But now less aid goes to those they deem inhuman.

It was a precision strike in more ways than one. People who can't realize it was no mistake at all, baffle the mind.

  • Yes. Now if you expand this thought process you'll find that the majority of laws are exactly this. Pretty much everything you do is both legal and illegal according to different laws. Which means you can be arrested, detained, etc for basically any reason at any time. It's all down to if "they" (the cop you interact with, the DA, the judge, the high ranking official who just doesn't like you, the media rallying against you, etc) want something to happen.

It's a hallmark of fear based authoritarian governments.

  • Who do I believe, you or my lying eyes? And I'm no trumper. This administration purposefully skews the numbers. I get why, but it's so obvious I don't see how you can fall for it. Everything is 20.6% to 50%+ more expensive. Some people got wage increases. MOST did not. Even if you got a few percent here or there, you're spending more for the same stuff. That's not better off. That's inflation eating your salary gain, or non gain, more than just a lower or flat salary.

Less than half of people who got new jobs since the pandemic got "the same or more pay". That means of the jobs created, half lost wages. Looking at simple shareholder data for companies employee wages went up a few percent, like always. Meaning on aggregate, wages up with standard levels of inflation. Which is what Biden pushes.

Factor in the actual consumer price index, it's clear to see.

For me personally, as well as every single human I know and interact with personally, EVERYONE, is worse off. A 7% mortgage vs a 3% mortgage is a huge killer.

Stocks are up. Great if you're selling. That's not a long term economy, that's short term gains.

  • It's like how 95% of the "Chinese" places you go probably have General Tsaos chicken. It is not Chinese. Invented in Murica for Muricans. Deep fried sushi is the same. The restaurants in the US offer it because others offer it and the American pallet likes it.

You would be promptly murdered in Japan for asking for such a dish. Probably being the reason the restaurant puts up a "no foreigners allowed" sign from then on, which is actually common.

Same county that loves Tempura, but deep fried sushi is sacrilegious. Go figure.

  • Not defending Diddy. I don't know or care enough to know about it. But using the over militarization of police raids as evidence to support criminal wrongdoing to support the raid in the first place is just astronomically wrong.

Every raid the police destroy the house. They see it as a game and a way to teach them a lesson. They know exactly how to cause the most disruptive damage and do exactly that. Cutting wires and smashing cameras, breaking door frames, punching holes in walls near utilities to cause them to be turned off. It's all calculated as maximum hurt.

Unfortunately it is known publicly that 5% to 10% of these raids are wrong. Just straight up whoops. Wrong house, wrong person, old lease, bad policing and investigating. No criminal activity, no intent, nothing. Just perfectly innocent people getting their lives ruined.

Then there are many other people who it happens to and they never become a part of that wrongful statistic because of police malace. If you attempt to get your damages paid for because of a bad raid, it is much easier for the police to double down, criminally arrest you for something, and make you prove you aren't whatever they allege. Now you have a record, huge legal bills, and lifelong implications. And the police now how a justified raid and you get nothing.

The number in one town I lived in was 1 out 6 were bad raids. 10 to 12 a week on average happening. That's 100 people a year, in this one 800k city, getting their lives destroyed for a big whoops. There is roughly 1 case per year or every 2 years where they are actually found to be wrong. The rest the lawyers and everyone else agree, drop it.

The US is a failed nation.

  • It doesn't matter if Trump wins or Biden wins or heck if even Kennedy wins. The climate change has already reached the no turning back point. We are no longer dealing with scenarios trying to get things back to a natural curve. We're now trying to figure out how to deal with some vs lots of consequences.

The time to care was a long time ago. Now is the time to figure out how to live with the consequences of others inaction.

As usual XKCD has one of the better infographics on the subject.

  • Yes, just what the world needs. More US military bases on foreign soil!

Glad aid will finally get in. But all of this could have been done half a YEAR ago by just letting trucks in. Gaza is not a remote Pacific island nation with no way in. They are a land strip with land borders. One with a nation they the US has supposedly the best parternship in the world with. The others the US has relations, albeit not as great, but they are supportive to let aid in as well.

The US and Israel are complicit in the genocide and famine. They are functionally one government now and each deserves the totality of blame of the other.

  • Awesome now my lead and mercury infused crystal drinkware company can come back into existence! It is also old technology, only found out about relatively recently comapred to the thousand years prior it was being used harmlessly enough.

Next stop, opening up a uranium glass cobranded company!
