Been a decent year for my bucket list! I managed to tick off:
get married
go to Eurovision
go on a cruise
Also started work on my first "real" video game, been learning how to make them as a hobby since 2020. Releasing that sometime next year will be another thing ticked off the list!
We have had a lot of crap stuff happen as well though (health stuff and whatnot) and it's just generally been a very stressful and disrupted year so I'll be glad to see the back of it despite all the good that happened.
I have special sewing scissors, AND I have special haircutting scissors, as well as us having just regular everyday scissors of course. Can confirm after a couple of "incidents" my husband is now very very careful to pick up the right ones!
I don't think there's such a thing, there's just the era when you're discovering a load of exciting new stuff and then (for most people) all the other eras where you're not.
You can fix this by, you know, seeking out new music on purpose instead of becoming the typical old man yelling at cloud.
What kind of printer is it? The more-experienced-than-me folks will probably be able to point you in the direction of specific resources depending what type of printing you'll be doing.
When we first got into printing I taught my husband the basics of CAD with Fusion360, and after a bit of wrangling with the unintuitive controls he found it pretty easy to use. It's free for personal use, which is the main draw, but also it makes it easy to share designs with each other. That said I'm sure someone will be along to recommend a FOSS alternative because this is Lemmy after all.
Mainly I just wanted to say welcome to the gang and have fun printing a load of stuff you didn't even know you needed! :D
Interface is telling me you have two replies but won't let me see them so if this is a repeat, apologies! But !imadethis@lemm.ee is already an active thing, probably don't need two :D
Also see my other comment in this thread for an off-the-top-of-my-head list of creative project type communities.
Got a milestone birthday coming up but not sure what to do for it, once I have plans that'll be something exciting.
I've been working on learning gamedev as a hobby for a couple years and hope to release my first proper actual commercial game next year too which is pretty cool.
No holidays planned as of yet but we normally do that over the Christmas hols.
There are tons of creative / art / project focused communities here, you just don't tend to see them in the All feed for obvious reasons. Find one where your project fits, post it, worst that can happen is nobody sees it which isn't exactly the end of the world.
If you're struggling to figure out where it would fit, let us know vaguely what it is and maybe we can help! Also like someone else suggested !imadethis@lemm.ee is a good general catch-all.
Haha, yes I know, this entire thread is just an opportunity for you to tell people about Matrix Discord bridges! But I've personally got no use for it yet. And that's ok π
Glad someone might be in a position to help with the PT stuff. I can't help with the actual codebase but have been pulling together feature requests and bug reports as well as doing a lot of tech support for new users so we all do our part where we can. Teamwork!
Wasn't on Twitter really (I've had various accounts over the years but they never stuck), couldn't see the point of it. Got two active Mastodon accounts though and I'm all over it like a rash.
Nah Discord is still perfectly fine for the way I use it
Uploading my stuff to both. But PT really need to acknowledge the major discovery problems before it can get anywhere, and at the moment they don't even seem to accept that their instance search tool (ie the first thing most people will need) is broken, so I don't have high hopes.
I honestly never know what people mean by "niche", everyone seems to have a different cutoff. But also the word you're looking for is "communities", we users are the lemmings π
