  • Why post anything? Because they wanted to, the same way you posted something that you felt was worth adding. For me it wasn't adding anything. Nonetheless I answer you. Because I wanted to.

  • It's for familiarity, that way you can remember the variables better. taps head

  • If I'd turn it into airplane mode I'd be uneasy. DnD no issues there because emergencies come through but in airplane mode? Nope if anything happens somewhere I won't be able to be reached. And then dealing with that seems worse to me. So I have it automatically jump into DnD at 21.00 and go out of it with the alarm in the morning.

  • It's a personal choice, the doctor is now allowed to do that if you wish. Often you yourself can tell whether this is a big one or just the common flu. So it's great, because you don't have to leave the house. Specially great for city folks who would often take public transport. Keeps the stuff more contained and not spread everywhere.

  • Call the place, if it is infectious they put you on sick leave and you don't have to infect all ppl at the doctor. If the sick leave runs out, most often 3 days or so mainly to get you to the next weekend. If the issue persists you got to them. Doesn't cost anything beyond what you pay in taxes. Anything that's more involved than the typical issues might have you go to several offices (general offices then to more specialised) until someone makes a decision on what it is and how to deal with it. Also no extra cost; those come when you have something that could be dealt with but is not needed. Like you will have a decent quality of life if they patch it every now and then instead of fixing it. Then you might have to pay for that special extra pls just fix it. At least that's been my experience in Germany.

  • Same, I always assume the ppl. Saying it's black and blue are trolling me.

  • Personally, I think we have homework the wrong way around. Instead of teaching the subject in class and then assign practice for home, we should be learn the subject at home and so the practice in class.

I always found it easier to read up on something, get an idea of a concept by my self. But when trying to solve the problems I ran into questions, but no one was there I could ask. If the problem were to be solved in class I could ask fellow students or the teacher.

Plus if the kids want to learn the concept from ChatGPT or Wikipedia that's fine by me as long as they learn it somehow.

Of course this does not apply to all concepts, subjects and such but as a general rule I think it works.

  • Man I hate him and his racism.

  • Pfff just chose him to play Tetris or any other game without a win condition but loose conditions.

Maybe even rimworld, he gets sucked in and forgets that you exist.

  • I'm in the same boat here, not regretting it at all that I moved on.

  • I like Oversimplified and Extra History, both are quite entertaining and I think they are both putting in great effort to make their content accurate.

I used to really enjoy CGPGrey but after too many flags and other things, I kinda just stopped watching that.

Kurzgesagt is a bit of hit or miss for me, I love their space and science-y weird questions but the more political stuff feels sometimes a tad iffy.

That's mu personal take anyway and I know many might disagree. If anyone could provide the links that would be great I hate to use the YouTube app and in the web-Browser it's a a bit of a pain.

  • Ah double standards, farmers are apparently in their right to block a highway but god forbid you would block a highway for a climate protest.

  • Wieso denn Augustiner?

  • I disagree, Germany does not require you to declare tips as income and we are very far away from a tipping culture or a system in wich tips are making up a substantial amount of the pay of a person.

  • Basically not really a thing, you get them here and there depending on the location and the kind of service. Most often ppl. Who pay with cash would round up to the next 5 or 10 or full euro depending on the relative size of the purchase. You would round up 49,41 € to 50 € and 9,48€ to 10 but 2,30€ probably to 2,50€ at most 3€.

I have rounded up like that at a hairstylist or at a restaurant. When paying in cash. When you round up like that I while paying with card the laws about the tips change. Then they no longer fall under §3 Nr. 51 EStG.

  • You do not have to declare tips as income. They are by law not taxable (there are exceptions but I won't go into too much German tax law details now), as long as the tip has been given to the employee by an customer in relation to a service they provided. Which is no longer the case when you pay by card, because then the tip has been given to the employer not employee and as such it no longer satisfies the paragraph. But there are more details to that.

https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/estg/__3.html there look for number 51.

  • Sorry about that, I made an edit.
