  • there's still a lot of people who live in a place with a yard, and if most of them come together to require the ability to keep chickens there then it'll be untenable for that permission to be denied by HOAs/landlords/local government

  • lmao, oh the horror, a leftist on lemmy

  • that's moving the goalposts, the previous poster claims that you simply cannot tell the difference between sounds that don't exist in your native language, which is fucking obviously false and they should be ashamed of posting something like that

  • ...what kind of pine nuts are you eating? the ones i've eaten are just seeds, not made of wood. i wouldn't want bark or wood chips in a salad, would you?

the plane is a classic example of survivor bias: only the planes that didn't get shot in critical areas returned, but at first the response was to add armor to the places that got shot the most, which is the wrong action since clearly if they got shot that much it didn't really matter for the survival of the plane.

  • i have no clue where the fuck people get this idea, it's clearly nonsense since people pick up accents just from living in a different country for a year or two

  • i've never understood this, i'm slightly older than 9 months and i've been perfectly able to pick up new sounds, and people learn new languages all the time..

  • dwarves all have a chronic case of flabby repairman asscrack

  • only the woody things survive, because they're woody and thus pretty difficult to put in a salad

  • are you being intentionally obtuse? yes obviously we don't have androids that can do ALL the work for us, but we have robots that can do a hell of a lot of work for us, and especially the laborious and monotonous work.

  • absolutely not, the best shitposts are genuine works of art and take tons of effort

  • what are you on about? ever look at a modern factory? they're filled with robots that do enough work to replace 10 people.

obviously under capitalism this work just goes into making rich people richer, which is why we need to get rid of capitalism so these fancy robots we've built can actually let us live chill lives with minimal required human labour.

  • i feel like flying is something you either do fairly regularly, or you haven't even considered setting foot on a plane for 10 years.

  • what has helped me is just pivoting heavily to chicken, i used to basically just eat beef and pork, so simply eating a different kind of meat helped ease into eating non-meat meals as well.

meat alternatives are of course great, but i also think soybeans (or similar) are very underrated, just raw green soybeans are astoundingly meat-like for being a straight up unprocessed vegetable. Great in salads.

  • there are definitely places (hello) where anything more fancy than potatoes and peas costs more than (cheap) meat, looking at the veggie and fruit section of a swedish grocery store is depressing

  • health-wise it's red meat but culinarily it's white meat, it's wonderfully simple and easy to understand

  • sure, but that doesn't affect the actual production of copper, they'll just start recycling it when mining becomes more expensive than recycling it regardless of taxes

  • because this is per kilogram, not per serving. you don't eat a kilogram of chocolate in a day
