  • There's nothing wrong with a devotion to Christianity. My mother gives sermons and she's one of the coolest people I know. But that's not what this is.

This is a person whose worldview was shaped by conservative values presented as Christian values. They see a world that doesn't fit what they were taught, and they try to understand it as best they can. It's a constant back and forth on whether to accept the world as God designed it or to try and block out parts that conservatives don't like.

Case in point: The bible doesn't say shit about swearing. It talks about insulting, with an example being "fool", but nothing about swearing.

  • Fun fact! Swearing actually reduces pain perception, thus increasing pain tolerance. There are scientific benefits to swearing.

  • I don't talk to a lot of people, but there's no reason I'd specifically avoid them. I lucked out, and they're pretty cool people.

More to the point, my family are the people who shaped who I am in both nature and nurture. If they weren't my family, I would not be me.

  • What's small, green, and has wheels? Grass. I added the wheels to make it sound cooler.

  • A duck walks into a bar wearing one shoe. The bartender says "hey buddy, you lost a shoe" and the duck says "nah, I found one!"

  • "When I started here, all there was was swamp. Other players said I was daft to fight a dragon in a swamp, but I fought it all the same, just to show 'em. We sank into the swamp. So, we sent a second party. They sank into the swamp. So, we sent a third one. The dragon got a surprise round, burned us, then we sank into the swamp, but the fourth one... killed the dragon!"

  • Considering how many failed businesses he has under his name, I doubt failure is enough to hurt his ego. He'll just make something up so he can pretend he's still a success. Like how he claims he won the last election despite it being yet another failure to add to the pile.

  • Defence lawyers are only really vilified for opposing the police. After all, they're helping someone the police arrested, and everyone the police arrest are evil, right?

  • In the broad strokes, I absolutely agree, but I think you need a few asterisks in that statement to avoid becoming copaganda yourself.

There's nothing fundamentally wrong with the law*, with enforcing said law** or those who chose to enforce it***

The law isn't always just, and can be just as rotten as the lawmakers can. It used to be against the law to be gay, and that law IS fundamentally wrong. "Don't murder people" is a just law, though.
    * The law isn't always enforced evenly. Some officers only enforce the law when it suits them, letting wealthy people get away with murder while cracking down on minorities for minor offences. If you make sure to treat everyone evenly, you're fine.
In addition, enforcing unjust laws is unjust, and I don't care if you were just following orders.
** Not everyone chooses to enforce the law for the sake of the law. Many cops became cops because of the status that comes with the badge. They don't care about protecting the innocent. Luckily, even the most ruthless in the 99 is in it to protect people.

  • It's kind of been a running thing that the only way to make a group of cops the good guys is to have them point out how bad most cops actually are. There's an episode where Terry gets racially profiled and has to sacrifice a promotion so he can get even a little bit of justice. There's an episode where NYPD posters keep getting defaced, and Gina has to point out how most people hate cops for good reasons. The series starts with Holt pointing out the NYPD kept him from getting promoted due to being a gay black man, then promoted him when they thought it would make them look good.

Heck, all of season 8 is spent opposing a police union and trying to stop police corruption.

It's copaganda that desperately didn't want to be copaganda.

  • It's one button, my guy. How many buttons do you need to push to get someone else to ban you? This is way more effort. You're obviously not doing it to save effort.

My suspicion is that you're doing this because contempt is the closest thing to love that you have in your life right now, but either way, this is just kinda pathetic.

  • I have to assume that, when you say "the worst uneducated users from Reddit", you mean people who post racism, homophobia, transphobia, Nazi apologism, etc., then make a post condemning Lemmy for justifiably telling them to get fucked. I suppose I do have to face the truth that this platform is just popular enough to siphon a few of you fuckos. It's sad, but I hope we'll eventually move past you.

(Yes, I know you're not self-aware enough to mean that, but let me dream.)

  • "Roll d6", lists 8 options.

  • Comment deleted since you were last there.

  • A police officer shot and killed an innocent civilian. The officer is facing criminal charges, and an investigation is ongoing to find out who authorised use of a firearm in a public civilian space.

Marvel has announced plans to produce a short film, celebratingthe 5 year anniversary of the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are even rumours of a sequel anthology, once they have time to develop the story fully.

A report has shown that rent in New York has risen to nearly $3000 for a 2 bedroom apartment. With the minimum wage at only $20 an hour, people are worrying if they will still be able to afford the things they need. One resident has felt the squeeze as they also have to pay the shockingly high price of $20 for their specialty prescription medicine. "At least my other medical costs are free!"

Elon Musk has attempted to sue Twitter for banning his account. It is expected that this move will bankrupt him within a few weeks.

Someone on the internet has seen that their favourite show has been cancelled, and calls it "the darkest timeline".

  • You know for a god dang fact that's someone's kink.

  • Anything with a mechanic where every choice matters and will affect the next 50 hours of gameplay, and where it's possible to choose wrong. That's a lot of pressure, and I'd rather someone else deal with that.

Also, anything that's 100 hours of gameplay and 10 hours of story.

  • You have created three posts in the last 12 hours, which is the entire time you've had an account. Two of them are asking for people to help you make something, and the third is asking where you can get free stuff. Oh, and this post, which is questioning why people don't like you after only 3 posts.

  • Previously, they have complained about the show not fitting their "Christian values", due to zombification and trans characters. I only believe they have a problem with one of those two things.

Note that they also asked for an alternative to Wikipedia because they dislike the content. They're going through some stuff.
