Except I wholeheartedly agree with you. There is a huge issue here, but at the same time if these billionaires truly believe that they should be paying more, they should just… do it. There is literally nothing stopping them. They should be forced to, yes, and that’s what they’re saying. But they should be putting their money where their mouths are in the meantime.

Literally nothing is stopping any of them from cutting a massive check to the government. This is lip service to stop people from hating on the billionaire class.

Assuming this is a tablet, I chop it in half and my wife and I both enjoy being in our twenties again.

I had to tell my wife to stop giving the cat a treat after we wake up because it led to the cat meowing incessantly around 5am every morning.

My 90 year old grandmother refuses to go to a nursing home (and honestly I can’t blame her) and actually just blew a ton of money getting her home remodeled. She has no plans to leave until she passes away, at which point the house will go to my father who has plans to sell it.

Meanwhile, my wife and I barely make the median income amount and, at 36, we’re never going to be able to afford a home.

I recently tried to find the same thing and came up empty. What worked best (though with noticeable shortcomings) was simply making a spreadsheet and comparing prices I found online for the stores I could think of. What I found is that it takes a lot of time, some places don’t have their prices or even all their items on their websites, and that sometimes you end up spending a little (or a lot) more now in order to save money in the long run.

BUT. I also found that some things are consistently cheaper at certain places, and that if you bother to track individual items over time you can start to paint a pretty clear picture of what stores will have the cheapest items. Like, when it comes to chicken breasts and ground turkey, I’m going to Aldi almost every time. But for canned goods, my local H‑E‑B tends to fare a bit better, and is a good second choice for ground turkey.

It’s a race to the bottom and we all lose.

My wife is different than my friends because we literally live together. All decisions are made with the both of us in mind. As a result, we know each other better than just about anyone else, and that level of emotional intimacy is tough to find anywhere else. Don’t get me wrong, I have a few very good friends as well, but I don’t talk about the same things with them as I do my wife.

Having an honest to God companion to share the ups and downs in life is amazing. The ups are sublime, the downs help us both be more introspective and end up bettering ourselves.
