  • It's the opposite form of respect.

    Also known as disrespect.

To finish in flames: judging by the rejection of Southern culture, there is a limit of what northern culture can accept comfortably. If they cannot accept southern people the way they are, how can they claim to be better in acceptance?

The paradox of tolerance. The difference is who they don't accept:

for one it's anyone who is not like them, for the other it's anyone who is intolerant.

  • Former threads on this mention that you can be yourself in private. Everything is acceptable by hiding it behind a facade. You don't become like them, you put up a facade. It's a different culture, but it doesn't reject who you are.

It does though. You'll only be accepted if you're like them, or appear like them. That's very clearly rejection, forcing people to hide who they are.

  • He resigned immediately after making a culturally insensitive sentence to avoid vultures, and a vulture is swooping after him to capitalize on his poor judgment.

Okay, let's not pretend it was a single misinterpreted sentence, and now poor Ashton is unfairly hounded.

  • Jesus doesn't do that. Jesus does the opposite of that.

Exactly, jesus wouldn't say something like that or this:

"Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me."

  • Here’s an idea: FUCK the goddamn bible.

    Agreed.

We have no reason to care what it says, and if you can’t all agree on what it says then it is worthless even to you.

I think you misunderstood. I'm not a christian criticizing atheism, I'm an atheist criticizing christianity.

I'm refuting the propaganda that the bible is actually a good book with good morals that some christians like to spread.

  • True, we should be using a temperature scale that was defined on how cold it was in Gdańsk, Poland in the winter of 1708, something the average man is more familiar with than water temperature, right?
