  • About damn time.

For the last decade I’ve paid for high speed fiber cable from Comcast, and that monthly 1tb limit was a killer with a family. So I paid the extra $50 (for a few years, then $30 these last 2) for unlimited. All for a total low package price of $250. My buddy in a nearby town with better speeds and multiple options has never paid for this add on, because he has competition in the area. I had zero choice, there were zero network improvements in my area until this year when a new local fiber company started burying fiber in my area. Today I pay $100 for 2gb symmetrical unlimited internet, way cheaper than the $250 I’ve paid for years for a forced tv/phone/internet package.

I hope there’s a class action for this. Fuck Comcast.

  • I only ever had 3 when I was young(11): Mario/duckhunt combo, contra and Zelda. Boy was I excited when I got my Nintendo magazine with the first and second quest walkthrough for Zelda. But around 14 I learned Hollywood video Rented games and I got to play a lot more. This was the only game I rented and never finished cause I couldn’t afford the rental late fee.

  • Now you can add:

    • disable ad blocker to continue
    • set your tracking preference that we’ll forget next visit, but you can’t read until you click it, ok?
    • a video clip with ads playing in banner on top, which plays audio without your permission - then pops up the window just below as you scroll, blocking half the text

Ive been doing this dance for 30 years. From pop under popup windows in the 90s, adobe flash ads, Java script… and the list just keeps going. I have never bought something, from a web advert that was obnoxious. Google was the only place I willingly allowed ads back in early 2000s; that simple text box on the right with almost relevant adverts to my search. I bought from one of those, once.

  • Yeah. I think the article was counting the approved 8th (2023) and 9th (2024) seasons, adding 10th and 11th. Just wasn’t super clear first read and made it feel like 9th was current or all 20 episodes were a single season. That first paragraph is crappy.

We still have 10 more from the 20 approved episodes, and now 20 more on top of that. So an easy 3 years of futurama to look forward to. Yay!

  • yeah. you ride up via tram and can enjoy a day of fun. roller coaster, swing over a cliff, alpine sleds (on rail) and caves. I also recall a laser tag area, some lame 4d ride (smells, get soaked, etc) and food. Then head down to the geothermal hotsprings for a nice soak in what i think is the worlds largest hotspring pool.

  • I know, English is hard. It’s ok that you’re wrong, or to put it nicely, confidently incorrect.

JPEG lacks the ph (eff) sound because, well you know, there is no ‘h’ in JPEG and that changes the pronunciation rules. based on your argument, we’d also pronounce picture as ficture. Or penis as fenis.

So, a+ for effort, but F for accuracy.

Fun tidbit though. Person, penis, and peg, all follow different pronunciation rules because the consonants that follow.

  • Cloudflare is just that. It supports most domains except for premium .dev (for now) from google. Registrar costs are at cost and no markup. Lots of options, no pressure to do anything beyond free.

Next option is Namecheap, but they’ve had issues lately.

  • Yeah, Europe and UK seem to be cheaper for those things. While I was in Rome I paid €40 for the year, but stayed 2 months. At one time we could get insurance for our petrol car at $59 a month with minimal coverage, now it’s twice that.

That $50 is not all for the bike, I added supplemental coverage to pay for US healthcare in the event of an accident. I have full theft and damage, plus a balloon policy that pays out for medical, accidental death (for2 people). I think it was $120 for just the year on just e-bike, but an accident could cause my heath insurance to not cover due to it being a vehicle in motion accident.

  • Really happy with the Rad Power Plus series. reasonably priced, 1000 miles and counting on the motor and battery. They seem to be getting a little hate of late for their customer service, but I have a local shop so I don’t see these issues.

  • Leased a tesla MS in 2017 because I knew 250mile battery was not going to be the max in 2020 and guessed 350mile was possible (i was right). Right around then Elon came out as a conspiracy twat, so I was more than happy to turn my car in when he went full right wing twat.

3 years on, I’m the proud owner of an ebike with a few thousand miles on it, created by a company not owned by a twat. My insurance is $50 a month and my uber rides fall far below anything I spent monthly on my insurance and lease payment ($1300 or so). Helps to work from home and live 5 miles from most places I need to go to or from the public transit.

Honestly, had he kept his insane ideas to himself I might still own that car or it’s newer version. I do miss it, but I just can’t support people like that. Also, 3 years on I don’t miss the car payments…

  • Can you really hate a product that still keeps working?? I also hate the capsules, but I’ve made it a point to use the free recycle feature because i like the convenience. Sometimes at 9pm I want an after dinner espresso without all the fuss.

Mine is going on 4 years now, and in this day and age I’m more excited that I’m not contributing to e-waste.

  • Your windows are superior in how they open, however the average American would need better education in order to operate them.

I was just there in June and my apartment had 3 options for the window to open depending on latch position. One would open the top for venting, one would open wider with just the glass part of the window leaving the bug screen in place and another would open the whole unit so you could hang out the window and fall 10m to the ground.

Best we have what are called double hung windows, top and bottom open (up/down or left/right side slide). Almost every house i’ve ever lived in has screens.
