  • Are greater power responsible for the actions of their proxies?

Before you answer, remember the answer to that question applies to both sides in this conflict.

  • So why is the Israel-Hamas war considered a genocide? Is it a numbers thing? Most other wars throughout history had many more civilian casualties than there's been in the Israel-Hamas war.

What makes the Israel-Hamas war a genocide and for example, the Vietnam war not be considered a genocide?

  • If people here were saying racist shit about Palestinians I'd be arguing with them. I don't see that happen on this site, but I see there's a bit of an antisemitism problem and that's something someone needs to address. When people get into a bubble like this and are constantly doing stochastic terrorism talk, some fucked up things can happen if no one pipes in to make people consider they might be going off the rails a little bit.

So I'm taking a break from countering racism and stochastic terrorism on this site to poke some fun at some leftists in a shitpost thread.

Is this really the best forum to discuss genocide? If you're looking at my comment history, maybe just reply to one of the comments where that's already being discussed. Well if you can get in a reply before my comments get deleted, that is. Not sure if that happens in an attempt the censor other points of views or to sane-wash out the crazy replies I get when I merely offer the point of view that most people in the world hold about a subject. Either way, at least some people that see them are reminded that not everyone in the world believes the crazy things that get posted here. You obviously saw some of my comments before they got deleted, so that's a win.

I've had multiple people thank me for doing this in my DMs, so there's dozens of us! And it saddens me the intimidation tactics that get used to squelch discussion of certain subjects on this site.

So, anyway stochastic terrorism is bad, antisemitism is bad, and socialism has failed many times in history. Lets see if I get banned from the "shitpost" community for saying these outrageous things, LOL.

  • It's possible some dumbass got into power and had some goons put the spider into the glass and put tariffs on importing silk. The spider is dead and we'll never know if the spider would be dead had there been a competent in charge. But socialists are 100% certain the spider was going to die anyway because they believe all spiders will inevitably die because some weirdo with a big beard said something about spiders a couple hundred years ago.

    Metaphorically speaking, of course.

  • This one is way too high profile to be about conviction rates. Also likely the big shots in the office that hound the people about conviction rates will take on the case themselves because they want to be on TV. And since they don't normally do any work, they might fuck it all up, like what happened in the Alec Baldwin case.

  • Or a metaphor for socialism... lacking the economic freedom to buy more silk, the spider couldn't escape an artificially designed system run by a central authority that didn't predict this scenario, because it isn't feasible for a central authority to predict every scenario.

Or maybe, given that the looks like the glass is outside on the ground so maybe the spider was put into the glass on purpose to make the photo? So the spider was sent to a gulag to die because it wasn't ideologically pure enough.

Or maybe it's just a spider in a glass and you can stretch a metaphor in any direction you want.

  • It's a war, not a game. One of the problems we have is people considering this conflict involving a lot of human suffering like it's a sport and taking sides and generally acting like complete psychopaths around it. The anti-Israel crowd seem to want Palestians to suffer more so they can continue to have more propaganda to prove Israelis are evil.

I want the Israeli people being held hostage by Hamas to be released and the war there to be ended as soon as possible to stop the suffering of Palestinians caught in the middle of a war and to stop the suffering of those hostages. I want Iran to give up it's nuclear program and stop supporting terrorism across the Middle East so that war will end so Iranians and Israelis won't be killed or maimed by exchanges of missiles and air strikes.

It is possible to have empathy for Israelis, Palestinians, and Iranians you know. Though if you do the psychos on all sides who think of this like it's a game will all hate you.

    But fuck' em, they're psychopaths.

  • So it's ok for you to give "critical support" to an authoritarian regime, but super bad for someone to give "critical support" to Israel for fighting against an authoritarian whose proxies massacred villages? Why isn't Iranian proxies massacring villages, Iran itself firing missiles at civilian populations (including a hosptial) something you don't consider to be genocide?

How do you determine which genocide you support and which genocide you're against?

  • Yup. It discouraged people from being anonymous and made stupid website accounts be extremely valuable to people.

So it's not about having a conversation with people it's about saying the right things so your account becomes more popular. You don't want to change your opinion on anything because people are following your account because they liked the thing you've said in the past. A stupid website account is a major part of your identity and your past opinions are also part of your identity.

So something that might've been just some weird phase in a small part of your life becomes a calcified part of your identity. The stupid shit you said in the past is part of who you are forever.

There's pressure to get out your opinion to get out your "hot take" before everyone else, so that you'll get all of the attention instead of someone else who got their hot take before you did. Hot takes are obviously going to be poorly thought out and people in a rush to get them out are easily manipulated. Then they get calcified and it results in people on willing to die on some dumb hill.

Because of all of this, people got dumbed done to the point where social media is basically just prison rules now. Gotta join some gang to survive, the gangs are determined by ethno-religious identity and survival is all about making your gang stronger than the other gangs. It would be funny if this nonsense didn't leak into reality, but since a lot of people's social media identity is a major part of their real life identity, all of the internet nonsense impacts the real world.

  • Yeah but the AI has trained people to reach a threshold of references in snarky comments. Without the CIA snark it would be below the threshold and this displeases our AI overlords.

  • It's also something that allows people to organize to overthrow an oppressive authoritarian regime.

But this particular authoritarian regime is apparently good because they want to wipe Israel off the map, so I guess we need to pretend everything they do is for the best.

  • The five syllable elements are all weird radioactive things. If Al has five syllables it might make my beer can radioactive or poisonous. Better keep the syllable count on Al to four or less like all of the other normal elements.

  • That's not a nice way to talk to your baby momma.

  • That just proves that Democrats are the real racists!

You can never win against someone that applies extreme selection bias to history.

  • He's the comedian's comedian. Most comedians when they get on a network talk show and they try to fill the limited time they have with as many jokes as they can to promote how funny they are so people will watch their sitcom or go to their standup or whatever.. This mad bastard just tells one long drawn out version of joke you'd literally find in a desk calendar.

And it's brilliant because not only comedians, but everyone gets that this guy is doing something bizarre. Nervous laughter turns to real laughter. Then we realize there's a comedian up there saying things and we're all laughing, so maybe it's not bizarre... just a comedian doing what he's supposed to do?

Norm always made me feel like we were the joke to him. He was somehow just tricking us into laughing at whatever bullshit he was saying. I loved every minute of it.

He was always the smartest guy in the room acting like he was the dumbest guy in the room. Yeah I miss him too.

  • Yeah the Indepedent Republic of California would be a nice place to visit after they deport all of the the ICE goons.

  • The answer in the article was actually "maybe."

Crowd sizes are hard to estimate and all, but if it's the upper end of the estimates then it was the biggest.

  • Haha... good joke. I didn't see your mention of healthcare in your previous comment.

It's typical of conspiracy theorists to say "it was just a joke" when called out on their bullshit. You may go back to doing "your own research in the internet" now.
