  • That’s not what they’re saying at all. I’ll repeat it but they do a very good job explaining it, re-read it if you have to.

The most important point is that the lower the salary, the more someone would find themselves needing to take extras from someone. It has the same basic vibe of being afraid of losing your health insurance so you don’t fight back when your company asks you to do questionable shit. This becomes a huge barrier for people that don’t have the money to ignore bribery and the people that do are way more likely to not be great people in the first place.

Without adequate salary the working class has a way harder time breaking into politics.

  • I mean I just have more than one port and can charge using the dedicated charging port.

What laptop are you using that makes it such an affair to use two USB-C ports?

Edit: I missed the “mobile” part

  • Though if you have multiple devices all trying to connect to wifi, like even a phone for example, then a computer having two antenna that it can actually use 100% of the time still sounds valuable to me.

  • I guess I just don’t go to so many restaurants thst need reservations for it to be a big deal, and I think in the past it’s even been occasionally just a phone number. But fair enough.

  • Trump thinks that the U.S. buying more from Canada is a “subsidy”. In reality it means that they need us more than we need them(a lot of what they buy is our oil). This will hurt the States more AND I have to hope that their conservative policy will also fuck up our oil sales leading to Alberta finally having to realize that it needs a personality beyond just destroying its environment and being terrible to minorities. One can only dream.

  • And let’s not forget that even that money came from cheating and stealing. It’s like beating Dark Souls on God Mode with a machine gun mod and claiming you’re better than everyone else.

  • Exactly. You better bet that if we elect the dweeb-loser Polievre next year Trump won’t be saying the same shit since Pierre will slob his knob big time.

I do like that, excepting the laundry list of terrible things he’s done, Doug Ford seems to acting tough about standing up to tariffs. Nothing will ever redeem that shitheel but at least even that sack of crap knows to eventually draw a line.

  • “This is someone who made an historic comeback, who reshaped the American presidency and who’s reordering American politics,” Jacobs said.

They’re being way to delicate with him, though. If he’s that bad that should be showcasing just awful he is.

  • I’m not trying to stop people talking about it. You said it felt bad that you can’t vote right or wrong because both sides feel terrible and the only choice is going for the one that is less terrible. I’m saying that if you voted Dem you still put effort towards doing the right thing. If you really want to feel bad about it from even the angle I’ve been taking this whole time then I’m sorry for interrupting your kink or whatever.

  • Hell so many of them saw that and went “ooh maybe I can be like that someday!”

But yea, relativistic morality is a fuckin’ cancer and I hate it and the braindead people who suck so bad at life they need to find excuses like that for their shitty behaviour.

  • Easy, bud.

You had two bad options in front of you and used your sense of right and wrong to choose the one that would hurt the least number of people and who wasn’t a cartoonish villain. It was the right thing to do given the circumstances. The wrong thing would have been to be “right” and claim “both sides” as the excuse for further enabling a literal fascist.

If you really want to beat yourself up over the fact that your options were bad then by all means, be my guest, but don’t come at me like I was saying that being a moderate is some great thing.

  • You still chose based on right and wrong, and at the end of the day that’s all most people can do in your fucked up system and that’s ok.

People like McConnel are the ones with the real power to create the options that the people vote on and when they just vote in line with what their party says every single time they have simply failed as representatives of the people.

  • Right? I don’t make a lot but I’m lucky to have support and I do(normally) make more than twice minimum wage. Whenever someone says that I should change jobs if I want more money I seriously consider pushing them infront of traffic.

My last bosses said, and I quote, “we are not responsible for paying for your lifestyle” in response to a Google Doc I shared showing how the salary they offer for my office job was grossly underpaying me and I was being quite generous. It’s like, what the fuck do they think a salary is? It’s literally the monetary compensation that someone gets which provides the lifestyle that we expect a given job should support.

All these bosses have been told how special they are for way too long and they seem to think that we actually enjoy working for them so much that our salaries are more like a nice bonus.
