  • “London”: Not too bad, works ok.

    “Climax”: …

“Tallahassee”: Pretty frickin’ awesome as a nickname but not sure formally.

“Syracuse”: I syr-acuse that of sounding dumb.

But regardless, besides all the “Von” or “De” or whatever names I’m willing to bet that modified or old spelling last names based on places are totally a thing that we also just decided to stop doing.

  • Ok, so it sounds like the church is a bad community investment but if the building is repurposed into a community centre run by the municipality then that’s the best option, no? It can even hold religious services for multiple religions now that it’s just a building.

Also you could totally have dances in a church! The social dances where I’m from are held in the basement of a church on Fridays. Before it moved to a community centre the organization where I live now held them in a church that had been converted like I mentioned above.

Your issue is a lack of imagination, not a lack of church.

  • Churches aren’t community centres and they are highly exclusionary. Libraries are vastly undersold to the public but they do still offer TONNES of services and hold all kinds of community events. I’ve personally seen them as part community centre, part summer camp, or part theatre, among other things. They offer programs to help the homeless, they let you use the internet for free, and they are places of learning that aren’t spewing nonsense. They do so much for the community and they don’t even require you to do or believe anything in return.

Churches only have as much of a community as anything else that gathers weekly. My weekly social dances have the same thing, someone else might have a big game night at a board/cardgame shop, and others may go to the pub. One place near me has a giant folk music jam you can just roll up to to play or watch. Churches aren’t only not the only place to go for community but they’re also not even that good at it.

  • I feels like, with most policy things, it’s just under-regulated and easily abused. The tossing out of misused and underdeveloped policy and programs instead of fixing it is getting so fucking tiring. Have an imagination, it’ll do us all some good.

  • I was on Instagram the other day and saw an account called “cakes on cakes” where she makes these incredibly well decorated cakes, like top-top-tier cakes, and then at the end she sits on them. Turns out she has an OnlyFans where people pay to watch her “wash off all the frosting” as the tagline goes.

To be honest I want a non-sitting version of the account so I can follow, like, and share the content without my friends thinking I’m just out here with a food fetish.

  • I would say that here in the U.S. and Canada:

Mediocrity is less celebrated and more just that anyone with real skill will probably stand out as troublemaker at work because they’ll know that their bosses are wrong.

Hard work is definitely celebrated because morons can always work longer hours but they aren’t capable of understanding how to work smart. Then the very worst people, the braindead managers, come along and ignore every single piece of documentation showing how working long hours is both unnecessary these days and just straight-up unproductive.

Academic achievement is massively worshipped here. In fact it is one of the number one arguments dumbasses who were good at school but not at real work make when spouting their other garbage. See: so many engineers, lawyers, and even doctors.

So I’m really not sure why you believe that that statement is true.

  • TL;DR: Han was getting in the way of investigating Yoon, the president who had been impeached for trying to enact martial law. Also, they need six out of nine justices to agree to uphold the impeachment but right now they only have six, and Han has been obstructing the nominations of three more justices to fill the empty seats. Nevertheless he’s been pretty cooperative and gotten of the way and the deputy prime minister/finance minister is in charge right now.

  • Were you older? Might be that that if they were younger and didn’t have a computer to play they just wouldn’t have the same context.

Differing opinions between generations can be largely boiled down to nostalgia and someone’s age during that period informs greatly how much they could even experience prior to [thing] to compare.

  • I hosted a jam night where only one person besides my roommate and their partner showed up. We made the most of it anyway!

There was a boardgame night years ago at one of those game pubs where only four of us showed up. Despite not being a group that would normally hangout we were all friends enough and had a great time. Instead of boardgames we got cheap food and then cake and hot chocolate.

    Every friend starts a stranger.

  • Often times it’s because other people are using it. Those people can’t use iCloud but I can use Google Docs and stuff. Hell, my MacBook can hang with my phone but my own PC isn’t connected, either. And then after that, are you really gunna expect most people to use and manage two different systems?

I use iCloud for photos, Safari on my phone and laptop because they’re connected easily that way, and have a few important documents on iCloud as well like all my stuff for job applications or sheet music so that I have access if I need that stuff elsewhere. And yet I still have Google drive for some things and use Google Sheets because it’s easy to share.

Not understanding why someone might not go all-in on a specific brand is more of a lack of imagination on your part than some failing on theirs.

  • Seriously? She completely disappeared and stopped representing her constituents but is still being paid for that job. She didn’t wrap up her duties or step down, she just closed all the offices and left without a trace. To imply the title is clickbait is a straight-up lie, or maybe reading comprehension just isn’t your strong suit, but either way there is nothing “normal” about this aside from the fact that Republicans are just total dogshit people as a rule.

  • The problem is, and of course when it matters I forget the specifics, that there are many times when language is changed to soften how bad something is and it results in people not taking things seriously.

The issue here is cars being shipped in a broken state, that’s it. They recall the vehicles and force people to skip out of work or whatever to get this shit done because their products suck, and if they wanted to not deal with that then maybe they should products that don’t suck. They can also collect a bunch of these issues, seeing as they’re common, and either make a patch of several minor issues or just say that the problem will be addressed at the next service. This is entirely on the companies to save their image, not us to change our language to make them feel better.

  • Ah butts, you’re right, the first guy said “mobile” and I didn’t read it correctly. I can’t figure why they would ever need a connection like that for their phone, though.

  • You said that they don’t represent the people, I was correcting you. Neither of us enjoy the fact that they represent an unfortunate number of people, but they do.

What this also means is that they can be removed if enough people stop fucking voting for them. They are not kings, not yet anyway.

  • Well if your dogshit country actually had a spine and three braincells to knock together, maybe. Ya’ll literally couldn’t even keep the most obvious fascist of all time out of office after he failed so bad the first time. As a country you deserve this and to the people who still did their best I’m sorry they have to deal with this.

Look Canada isn’t much better, we vote for garbage(or don’t show up to vote for better) and we get garbage. These people don’t hide who they are, they absolutely represent the population both directly and indirectly.
