We are not all the same

Ok but how does any of that make it good? That’s being relativistic and we can do soooo much better than that, can’t we?
Do better than jerking off terrible people who are only “totally awesome” because they’re not as bad as some of the other options. Nothing is forcing them to be like that so they have no excuse, and the rest of my original point still stands that your opinion based on what you enjoyed to consume as a tourist is laughably out of touch.
That’s a lot of copium. The US has never really been a diverse place where everyone is equal, it just has very good marketing, brand recognition, and fairy open borders so people tend to move there. Plus with the world speaking so much English it’s fairly accessible.
A lot of the times that you see non-WASP culture in the US it’s just stuff that a tourist might enjoy like cheap food, music, and art, or landscapes that are actively being destroyed by weak governments. So yea, maybe the people who are there and struggling can put on a good show but that doesn’t make it a good place.
The first black person to go to public school is still alive and she’s not even that old. Being gay is still dangerous outside of cities(and even within them sometimes!). There are two different rule sets for white and coloured people that are clear to see. The rich are never punished for their crimes and that’s even when the Democrats, the best they can offer, have all the power to do something about it. They aggressively export regressive ideals to other countries, too.
It’s always sucked.

And to continue your real life event thing, even just going outside and watching something happen can help get the ball rolling. It won’t be quite the same, like you said, but it won’t at all be a waste of time. Even going for a regular walk in a somewhat busy area can help, especially if you get to say high to a dog or something(which plays into your interaction thing).
I mean, I would hope insurance doesn’t need to pay me. That imply I’ve involved in an accident or had my stuff stolen. Even a not for profit insurance company would operate like that. I can afford $100/mo but I cannot afford to replace not only my car but the car or property of whatever I may be found at fault for hitting(and if I get hit, can that person afford to pay me?). If I got into an accident, especially if I were younger, how would I replace my $5,000 car and the $70k BMW I just hit? What if my kid set my house on fire or what if fire leapt from my neighbour’s house to mine?
That said, it’s absolutely true that system is bloated to an absolutely disgusting level and its shocking lack of regulation for, as you say, being legally required is pitiful. It deplorable that people need to fight to get payouts sometimes and how the US uses it for healthcare is just hellish. It’s also true that the capitalist/libertarian ideal of insurance only really works if people are paid adequately but both those systems do fuck all, on purpose, to keep people’s financial security safe.
In Québec, liability is paid for by the province so our car insurance is a lot cheaper and regular insurance only needs to cover the physical property, so that’s nice. It’s still got it’s problems I’m sure, but it’s a step in the right direction.
You don’t think retirement is a human right or at least should be? Like “congrats on working but you didn’t make enough and no I don’t care why so I guess you’ll be working until you die granny!” You can’t bust in here like claiming a higher level of morality and then saying “let’s pump the brakes on the healthcare a little I mean let’s not go *crazy amirite?”
Anyway, these people voted for everyone not like them to lose their human rights, down to not allowing them to exist while queer or be born in the country to immigrant parents. And so when they lose them too, yea it’s pretty funny. They are getting what they asked for, including the cruelty they cheered on and/or brushed aside, and are crying about it because they aren’t the big strong tough guys they fantasize about being.
Crazy to me that a society which aggressively chases a system which claims to be held accountable by consumers cannot fathom how boycotts could make a difference. That’s part of the system doing its shitty thing, in a way, but yea under capitalism that’s really all you have and even then they’re throwing it away.
North Americans: We just love trying to find reasons why things that clearly work “definitely won’t work this time”.
It would be 100% of Musk suddenly making a genuine effort to be a good person. It’s not on his daughter’s shoulders so it’s not like there are “two good people who just need to communicate”. If he actually worried about being a good person then of course the country would be better off because d’uh.
Buddy, like what you like but most Maseratis I see are pretty boring and some can even feel tacky. And why are so many of them matte black, the tackiest finish? Maseratis definitely sound incredible, though.
Porsches like the 911 are also designed to be sports cars before anything else and even then I still like ‘em. Some came out a little strange for sure but for the most part they’re great.
The best part is that this was known long before he was elected the second time.
Any one who goes “I was lied to!” is straight-up just an idiot who regrets that they had to feel a consequence. At best they’re just mind-bogglingly ignorant of how the world functions which is no excuse.
“Robot arms!”
Because they lost their limbs in an avoidable industrial mining accident because safety was too expensive.
“But look at ‘em!”
Bruh.

Yea, we’ve all gotten so used to online shopping that we’ve forgotten what we’re allowed to do when it comes to local stores. I even worked retail in a motorcycle shop selling gear and ordered stuff from suppliers all the time.
What are you talking about? Of course we do, all the time.

To be honest, since most places ship from their physical locations(which may not have stock or carry something at all due to demand) and Amazon’s incredibly predatory practices it means that they are pretty much the only option. I’ve gotten stuff from Etsy as well(but it doesn’t help for, like, water filters and certain appliance parts), and I really have always tried to avoid Amazon, but there are just some things where they’re the only ones where I can buy some of this stuff.
And like I said, I’m gunna have to just start asking outright for stuff even if whatever store doesn’t carry it normally. It’ll take some patience but I’ll live.
Weird to leave at animals like crows with that last one.

People gotta start working the hours they’re paid for. If I’m working my shift well then it’s not my fault that the company is understaffed and I am not gunna bust my ass to cover for someone’s poor leadership.

There actually are things that one just cannot find elsewhere easily, and most of the places that reliably carry them locally are places like Walmart which aren’t better. That said, it’s always the very last place I look.
With all this nonsense I’m going to start asking local stores if they can order stuff for me, though, and just be extra patient. For example, it’s wild how little there is for mandolins at local music stores but at least the British strings I’m going to try switching to are there so that’s something.
Doesn’t the plaque there even specifically focus on an incredibly open immigration policy?
“Just because they disagree with the politics” look we can say what we want about the burning Teslas part this isn’t a “little disagreement”. Musk’s a full-blown turbo-Nazi and in and in Germany, where this happened, he’s pouring money into the AFD which is essentially just the return of a German Nazi party. Don’t water it down.
Yea, because that was a deflection and not what we’re talking about. You said that the US has stood for diversity but at every stage of its existence it has stood on the backs and necks of minorities and has struggled to even admit that it has a problem. Even the last admin was ok with Israel wiping out every Palestinian man, woman, and child and sure that’s across the world but if they’re chill with genocide that sets the bar LOW. And buddy have you SEEN how they disenfranchise minority voters? The gerry-mandering maps are fucking WILD. They don’t give a fuck about the people who, to them, are just cheap labour.
Also I live in Canada which beat the US to gay marriage by 10 years and is where many black people escaped the US to. We are far from perfect but at least we had a female prime minister for a few months and a brown guy with a turban leads one of our three major parties. We also have a huge homeless problem but at least they have access to healthcare, and as far as surface-deep things like restaurants are concerned we have just as much diversity in our cities as the US does(and just as much bland, franchised nonsense out of the cities). French is our official second language but the US only has English despite all its Spanish speakers and the fact that a lot of it is straight-up old Mexican territory.
