This sounds like a headache. I can barely juggle my account, I can't imagine two or more.

I suspect the issue they're having, much as I am to a degree, is that a country is literally murdering men, women, and children so it can take their land and possessions and most of the world continues going about its business as if nothing is happening. Scaled vastly down, it's almost as if a gang was murdering a neighboring family and the family is screaming for help while the other neighbors do their best to ignore it.

I get why people aren't flocking to Palestine en masse to defend Palestinians, but especially for anyone with friends or family there, it's all bizarre. It's a huge, devastating, pressing issue that weighs on their minds all the time and most of the world doesn't seem to even care.

We also have a bit of land and a full-face respirator is the best for working with anything dusty, spraying weeds, or even just burn piles. Smoke in my face? Zero fucks given now.

If I may, I recommend the Scott AV-3000. They're a bit pricey but you can beat the hell out of them for years, can replace individual components, and they work with canisters, cartridges, SCBA, and supplied air, all of which use a bog-standard connector. If there's any question on sizing, you're probably a medium. 80+% of the adult population is medium, around 15% large, and less than 5% small. Large is barely larger, small is way smaller.

I may or may not have had a job related to respiratory protection for awhile. Science is fun!

I block/unblock .world as I appreciate the content but the drama:person ratio can get really high. It's mostly thanks to a small number of chronically online people who enjoy throwing fuel on the fire and leading a crusade to defederate and/or brigade whichever instance whenever there's a hot button topic. This seems to gather and focus otherwise aimless "not nice people", á la the man vs bear scenario.

To be fair, pugjesus is an asshole about a lot of things, not just drag.

I took a look and this is their normal behavior: just the topic du jour that they can use to whip up drama.

It's really hard to say - estimating with any certainly would be like estimating the likelihood of the lottery being won without knowing how many people are playing.

What makes it tricky is the mutation that changes to human specificity may change specificity away from cows/birds. In that case, if there's no opportunity for it to infect any humans, it just stops there. This may have happened multiple times already.

I'd say it's possible, incoming political idiots will make it more likely, and given how poorly they handled the last pandemic, it wouldn't be unwise to make reasonable preparations in advance: respiratory protection, soap/sanitizer (it needn't be antibiotic), maybe a bit of backup food and other daily supplies in case the shit hits the fan and supply chains get squirrely.

I used to make fun of preppers before COVID (and still think many of them are a bit too paranoid, you don't need a buried shipping container full of weapons), but we now have full-face respirators and a few months of dried food supplies.

People here are really overcomplicating this.

Step 1: Treat everyone with respect, including respecting their communication preferences. If it becomes obvious they're not being serious and/or respectful themselves (ball/sack, dog/shit), then simply disengage and report. Their bad behavior doesn't justify anyone else's bad behavior in response.

Step 2: If there's only suspicion their requests/preferences are somehow a form of trolling, harassment, or the like, either...
2.1: Respectfully ask non-accusatory questions for clarification, then return to step 1
Or
2.2: Disengage, report to a mod, and let them handle this shit

Rinse and repeat.

There are two overwhelmingly likely results to this little workflow.

1. A troll is treated with kindness and respect until it's found they're trolling, after which engagement ceases and mods have to deal with their shit. Remember: trolls get off on watching other people's outrage. No response = no outrage = an unsatisfying trolling session.
2. Someone who is not trolling but is having a difficult time being understood is treated with kindness and respect.

I agree 100%. I'd love a AAA game that uses the studio's clout not for cutting edge graphics but a stellar, polished story and gameplay. The story doesn't even need to be DEEP, just solid.
