  • foster collaboration, creativity and a sense of belonging.

That means gossip, procrastination, stealing ideas from underlings without paper trail, office politics and micromanaging, and everybody sitting at their desk with noise cancelling headphones.

  • It's the owning class. They're always treated differently from the wiring working class. Reminds me of history in Europe where the noble families ruled. Often these families were more inbred than any Southern stereotype ever was, and intellectual faculties to match, but they were the bosses. It's also why every fairy tale starts with a beautiful princess to let you know it was fiction as in reality most princesses were inbred horrors.

  • It's how the financial system works. Money is created out of loans that need to be paid back with interest, and the money for that interest comes out of other loans made by other people. It creates an ever increasing mountain of debt, and it pushes businesses to keep growing to stay ahead of their interest payments. The ones that don't are bought up by the ones that do. Naturally the most greedy and sociopathic float to the top in this system.

And so you get the eternal search for more things to exploit to keep growing and more profit. These things are baked in at a fundamental level.

  • Even SQL was originally called SEQUEL, Structured English QUEry Language. They got sued for the name and changed it to SQL. It was also pitched to retrieve data with plain language.

  • It's worse. The industry needs to entrench LLM and other AI so that after the bubble bursts it's so grafted info everything can't easily be removed, so afterwards everybody still needs to go past them and pay a buck.

Basically it's like a tick that needs to dig in deep now so you can't get rid of it later.

  • It's very common. Every few years there is some no-code platform claiming no developers are needed anymore in any sector, not just web dev. Invariably these only work if you stay on the narrow path and of course the customer asks something outside of the easy path after the first demo so a lot of work by devs are needed to make of happen.

AI is just one more like that, but with hype on steroids.

  • Trump has always just spouted talking points and word salad until something gets a good reaction and that becomes the new mantra and even government policy. Things that had a bad reaction are put in the "I never said that" box.

It's surprisingly how much this resembles how an AI generates images. It starts with random noise and refines that into a clear image that matches the criteria.

  • That's generally how the big powers from the past died: they get hollowed out from the inside by the elite our of greed. Then there is one or more external shock (pandemics, climate, war, disasters, resource depletion or agriculture problems are a few classics) that it can't handle anymore and things collapse. It looks things are following that well-worn path. China is even counting on this and aims to be the next big power.

  • Human brains also do processing of audio, video, self learning, feelings, and many more that are definitely not statistical text. There are even people without "inner monologue" that function just fine

Some research does use LLM in combination with other AI to get better results overall, but purely LLM isn't going to work.
