I mean it's a country with a population the size of Rotterdam only most of them are living pretty comfortable, so no real outrageous shit happens there.
Last I heard they do have free public transport though. Good hiking trails too.
Also: Belgium has a part of Luxemburg too. Nothing ever happens there either. Just small villages in between rolling hills.
Had the honor to create a garden for a friend this weekend. It was my first garden I have done for someone else. I made a border with native bee friendly plants. I go to the gym quite often but there are some muscles that the gym can't train that only manual labor seems to target lol. My forearms are sore as fuck from removing grass, lifting tiles and stuff.
Political wise things seemed to have died down a bit for some reason. Maybe because of the holiday but then again life goes on and things can be done. Bit of a bummer.
Hijacked a party of Flemish nationalist at the city's main square with Palestinian flags after the right wing city government banned some pro Palestinian artists from attending
A socdem politician came to visit my workplace today. Now, we are severely understaffed and overworked. Today was no exception. Place was packing with clients who had to wait 3 hours to get help. Insane day.
She came in with an entourage accompanied by our directors. It was like the queen herself came to the place. Pictures were taken of her standing at our workplace, looking interested.
She didn't say a single fucking word to us or our clients. Not one. Not even hello. Absolute 0 sign of respect. Fucking shithead. It was as if she came to see some monkies at the zoo.
That's cool. Some person in the street of my office has a passiflora growing on the side of their house and the flowers are really cool. Absolutely not native though lol.
Being a vegan activist might unironically be harder than being a communist one. You'd have the most rational people losing all critical thinking ability the second you say vegan.
Went out with my van to an in law family gathering on a camping this weekend, away from the busy city. When playing football with the kids present I sprained my ankle lmao. It's thick and blue now. Still had fun though.
Ever since the Iran attack I have been spiralling downward with my mental health a bit. I guess it's a combination of the events going on and the ever increasing workload at my job. Took today off in order not to burn myself out soon.
After the intense heat a couple of days ago came the intense rain right now. Overall the weather feels all over the place.
So femicide is a real problem here. Every other week a woman gets murdered in Belgium, in most cases by a partner or someone close to them. Most of the time for patriarchal reasons.
What's funny to me is that right wingers shout a lot about revenge killing in Muslim communities but remains silent about the dozens of women killed every year by Belgian men.
Never been the biggest vegan activist there is (despite being vegan now) but I got myself some vegan print t shirt. One of them says SOYBOY lmao. Can't wait to wear them in public.
