I was pointing out that fireworks were being used in a way that lowers the local air pollution for residents, for days, not just the evening. You can say 'barely registered' but I've shown you a clear case of it very much registering in terms of effects on local populous.

Massive levels of recycling in Europe. The process is also about reducing waste going to landfill, as well as reducing the need for raw materials.

Part of the purpose of any media is to illicit a reaction. In print media especially news, the "art" of writing has been distilled down to this because it is a easy way to garner views which in turn drives advertising/product sales. It's been shown that even negative publicity drives engagement without long-term consequences.
