  • You’ve never been here have you?

I'm born and raised in Ohio slap-nut. My friends and family stretch from Steubenville, Athens, Gallapolis, on through Portsmouth, and over to Cincinnati. I can speak with some authority here

Because nobody from Ohio would ever call southeastern Ohio It’s redeeming quality

??? You've clearly never been to the Hocking Hills, or your values are drastically different from mine

    Sure it’s beautiful,

    That's the point

but it’s less pretty than Kentucky

Who the hell said anything about Kentucky?

and the best thing you can say about the people there is that you won’t run into many.

Ah some are okay, but yeah.

    Columbus is fucking weird

    100% agree

    in a good way.

    Ehhhhhhh, 80% agree

Just don’t go south of Columbus or anywhere near Indiana.

To me there is a wretched stretch of Ohio the glaciers left behind that's great for farming and little else. It's flat, boring, and the people that live there think they are at the center of the universe.

Look I grew up in the flats. My extended family lived in the hills near the river. I was always jealous of them when I was a kid. Once i grew up I traveled the world a bit and found the places I really like. Fjords, snow-capped mountains, bioluminescent bays. And I found the quiet beauty of the Ohio River valley to have it's own charm. But the flatlands of Ohio are only good for farming and, these days, solar energy.

What southeastern Ohio lacks is economy. It's so depressed it's attempted suicide several times. Many rural people struggle economically, and it affects how they think. It keeps them small.

But hey, the state name looks like a tractor, so that's… something

  • Don't forget the Hocking Hills too.

I just went to Jungle Jim's for the first time this weekend actually. What an amazing place. For those that don't know, it's basically an IKEA sized grocery store. Over 6 acres (24000 m^2 )

  • factoid (2) - an assumption or speculation that is reported and repeated so often that it becomes accepted as fact.

Absolutely 100% made up. So, if that's the most interesting thing about each state, and it's fictional, imagine how mind numbingly boring the corn states must be

(I'm joking ofc, Ohio has a few redeeming qualities. The southeastern portion is particularly beautiful, Idaho has some staggering vistas, and Iowa… I mean, 75% of their name is vowels I guess)

  • Little known fact(oid).

Ohio's original state motto was "75% of our name is vowels"

Iowa's State motto was "…God dammit Ohio!"

These are the most interesting things about both states. I should know, I'm from Ohio.

And if you want to experience the United States Midwest in song form, look up Bird Bird Bird by Lou and Peter Berryman

  • From what I understand, the crust and sauce are hot and cold cheese is sprinkled on, which then gets, like, lukewarm

NGL I'm a born and raised Ohioian and I didn't learn about this monstrosity until last year. Also, the Ohio-valley refers to the Ohio River valley, so i blame West Virginia

  • I'm a locksmith. I've been a locksmith for… a little over 4 years.

I've been calling myself a locksmith for 10 years. A rich combination of overconfidence, Dunning-Kruger, and bootstrapping myself into competence over time

  • TBH, not much, except that in the case of dairy and gluten intolerance there's a case to be made for reasonable accommodation under the ADA. The rest of his comments were increasingly silly

Also there's many things wrong with American disability law, social safety nets, and the complete dysfunction of what passes for "healthcare". Splitting hairs on what constitutes a disability is emblematic of these failings.

  • If I can't ride my bike up big hills can i get an e-bike for the same price?

If you have a disability you can get a mobility scooter

If I'm very tall can i get an airplane seat upgrade for free?

Neither the very tall (nor the obese for that matter) are part of a protected class, and their relative sizes are not considered disabilities. However those physical conditions can lead to disabilities (heart and joint issues for example) which then lead to reasonable accommodation.

Your straw men are cute, but this isn't Kansas, we don't need them here
